Best Western Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof
Ranked #1 of 22 Hotels in Weimar
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 24, 2013

For years and years Russischer Hof has been my favourite, being arguably the best hotel in Weimar. In March I had one more opportunity to verify that joining the Best Western chain has changed nothing for the worse. Genuinely friendly staff makes you feel welcome right on arrival, rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, a sumptuous breakfast buffet awaits you - and all this right in center of one of the most famous and lovely towns in Germany. Make sure to check with the staff, they are very helpful in filling you in with the "where to go, what to see". The hotel hosts cultural events from time to time, so check for such packages before you book: you could enjoy a concert or a soiree during your stay (or avoid them if you can't stand the crowds). Hotel also runs a cafe (great chocolates and pralines) and a gourmet restaurant (Anastasia).
Although without any question at the more expensive end of the scale, it's always worthe the money.

Stayed in Weimar on a whim while travelling through. Glad I did. The old town is, i a word, beautiful. I had a little trouble finding the place as my GPS wanted to do all kinds of weird things, but I finally figured out that I had driven by it twice, lol. Park directly in front of the hotel and they will valet park the car for free when you check in. I believe there was an overnight parking fee, though.

Very friendly and efficient reception. Comfortable room. Wi fi was fine. Breakfast room was very nice and I had no complaints about breakfast.

Take some time to strol around the old town.

Great location near the historical center. There are several restaurants nearby, but not all are open for dinner. There is a private paying car park, so we walked everywhere.
The room was spacious, very clean, with a classical decor, comfortable bed and pillows. Wi-fi was free.
Dogs are allowed.
The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

for a best western, this place was nice. it was much better than expected. beds/pillows were extremely comfortable and i had no trouble sleeping each nite.

breakfast was good but pricey, at 19 euros for the buffet.. dinner looked expensive and i didnt try the hotel restaurants. there are numerous places to eat within walking distance as the hotel is in a great location in weimar square.

There is limited parking at the hotel about 10 spaces in the garage underneath and about 10 spaces outside in the back. not sure what they do when the place fills up.

id recommend staying at this place again.

The A/C was out in our assigned room and they couldn't fix it. We were moved from that normal hotel room to a very small attic space lacking even a coffee pot. The A/C in our attic room was very poor. The staff seemed uncaring and overall it was not a good experience.

For our family of three, there was nothing wrong with this hotel. The room (a deluxe with a sitting area) was spotless and spacious. Everything was immaculate and the art work was different and chosen with care. Not a typical hotel-feel. We loved it. The location was perfect. It was in the heart of everything, walking distance to everything, and easy to find.

Room Tip: We stayed in a deluxe room. It had a kitchen and a sitting area. The bathroom was spotless. The beds...

Location: Fantastic - an easy walk from the HbF and right where the old town starts. Lots of bakeries and restaurants closeby and virtaully all the tourist spots are walking distance.

Price: if its offseason (winter), the prices are hard to beat. In Feb we got a superior room < 100 Euros

Rooms etc: Very nice location adds to the room quality as well. Perhaps best to avoid the front rooms as the main street is there. We had very friendly people at the reception who (a) upgraded us to a suite and (b) were really helpful suggesting restaurants, places to see

Breakfast: We heard it was ok but there are so many cafe choices within a few minutes that we did not try the hotel one. Again, the location makes this hotel a winner
A great hotel in a great city is a very nice combination!
