“Amazing pizza”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Great little location, so get one of the outside tables in the summer like we did and watch the world go by. The interior looked nice and cozy for colder weather. Had a wonderful rucola pizza that was perfect. They have Kostritzer beer. Very reasonable prices.

Note that there can be some confusion regarding the "annex seating" which is across the street, I think in a shaded churchyard. The seating is shared with a crepes place, which is also just next door to the pizzeria. Make sure you are sitting in the right area. We had to move from the "crepes seating" which was fine because we lucked into one of the little tables you can see in the photo above right by the door of the pizzeria.

After the pizza, there is good Italian gelato cafe in the square behind the pizzeria. In fact, Weimar seems to have a really good selection of gelato places, perhaps almost as many as in neighboring Erfurt.

“Didn't have Pizza- Had Pasta”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Perhaps I should have had the pizza? I ordered what turned out to be a very mediocre baked pasta dish that really was at best, average.
Service was polite and unintrusive, but won't go there again for pasta. My friend who was along had a pasta dish as well which she seemd okay with but not too enthused.

“Great pizza - nice terrace”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

You may still have to wait for a table but they have added a terrace with about 10 tables and it is cool and refreshing under the trees. Pizza was great (price range of 7 - 10 EUR) and a bottle of wine for 14EUR (just two choices, Pinot Grigio or Chianti) rounded off the menu.

“Simply Great Pizza”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Locals all told us that this place serves the best pizza in Weimar. Our pizza was great. This restaurant is really what you would call a hole in the wall place. Very small and very popular. Tables are crowded together so get ready to have dinner or lunch with some new found friends. This place fills up fast, especially on the weekends. There are a few tables outside in front and a half a block down there are a number of tables located under a large tree adjacent to the street. On a nice day this is a great place to eat outside. This is a college/university town, so pizza is very popular with the students and young families.

“The best Pizza in Germany”
Reviewed February 15, 2011

Who would have thought that the best pizza to be found in Germany would be in Weimar. I have been all over Germany and tried the top recommendations from Berlin to Munich. But I can go even further... and say Antonio could be in a top 10 list in any country. I am a pizza lover who has had pizza from Naples to New Haven. This is the real thing. The hardest thing to get right in a pizza is the dough. Antonio has a wonderfully flavored Naples-style dough that is excellent, and a real super hot wood fired oven to cook it to perfection. My favorite pizza was a Pizza fungi with Gorgonzola and Garlic. Heaven. Now the frutta di mare is not the catch of the day... how could it be in Weimar where it would have to be shipped in by train! However, the majority of the toppings are excellent. I took a well traveled friend from New York there the other night who declared it was the best Pizza he ever had in his life. And his prices are beyond reasonable. Do yourself a favor... forget the fancy and go find pizza heaven where you would least expect it. Bravo Antonio!
