Have I ever eaten in one place three times in a row (meaning Friday, Saturday and Sunday during one journey)? Not until I discovered Sten Fischer's heaven for foodies in Weimar, Germany. Yes, I love Michelin star restaurants and the cuisine and service they provide, but I am not always in the mood for the usually rather stiff environment nor able to afford the price tag such a dining involves. Sten Fischer's Alt-Weimar made us instantly feel at home and I sure wish I could have stayed longer and tried more of his wonderful, innovative yet light creations. We loved the various fish specialities, the veal in bread crust was delightful and the new vegetarian menu showed that meatless cuisine is anything but boring and can be awesome fine dining too. Great wine selection, very attentive service and extremely child-friendly - if you child eats real food. Alt-Weimar does not have a deep fryer which I think is fantastic! Cannot wait to go back!!!
