I think that Christoffel claims to be the oldest tavern in Erfurt. It's anyway decorated in slightly exaggerated faux medieval style. There is a more "regular" restaurant seating area on the ground floor and a "rustic" cellar with long wooden benches. Without a reservation, we were seated in the cellar. Food was as I remembered from a few years ago: Large, filling servings (even the "small" dishes) of more or less traditional German/Thuringian food. Service was efficient enough, but our first waiter seemed very stern and taciturn. Maybe his attempt at a medieval attitude? A waitress who appeared later was friendlier.
