On two visits to the Restaurant am Bachhaus we've been delighted by the fresh trout. The forelle blau (poached) was incredibly fresh and beautifully cooked with the flesh at that perfect point of doneness. The forelle muhlerin art (int e style of the miller's wife, toasted almonds and butter) was again cooked perfectly with very flavorful toasted almonds and slightly browned butter. While cooking trout is not the most complex culinary feat, when it is properly executed it is a remarkable dish. Both dishes came with fresh potatoes and a salad composed of filed greens. The prices were very reasonable and service was prompt, friendly, and unobtrusive. While tour groups (visiting the nearby Wartburg Castle) are brought in for a quick lunch, this does not detract from service or quality of food. Decor is standard gasthaus furnishings. Writing the review makes me want to return.
