Very near location to the famous Christmas markets. Very nice and quaint hotel with parking. Breakfast was good and since it is December, the decors in the breakfast area and windows are fantastic reflecting the coziness of the old town of Lubeck

Talk about convenient! If you're arriving in Luebeck by train, just walk out the front of the Hauptbahnhof, then straight ahead through the ZOB passage, then through the middle of the bus station plaza ahead. Across the street and slightly to the left, you'll see Hotel Excelsior. That's a total three-minute walk to the hotel entrance.

Our room (173) was good-sized, clean, comfortable and very quiet -- no train or traffic noise, as this room is at the back of the hotel. The bathroom was modern and very clean. Breakfast (included) was very good with a full range of cereal, meats, cheeses, juice, etc.

Close by are a good Vietnamese restaurant and a really good pub (Feuerwerk, see separate review), each just a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

As for sight-seeing in beautiful Luebeck, Hotel Excelsior is less than a 10-minute walk from Luebeck's iconic Holsten Tor and the wonderful city that lies beyond this impressive gate. Add another 8-10 minutes to the city center.

Bottom line, next time in Luebeck (and we will be back!) Hotel Excelsior is our choice for both convenience and quality. Highly Recommended!

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel.

This is the second time in 3 years that we have stayed at this hotel, and we have been very happy with our stay on both occasions. The staff is nice, the rooms are clean, the food is great and the hotel is only ten minutes away from the city centre.

The hotel is a bit of a maze with rooms across different buildings, but there is easy access via lifts to all rooms.

They do have a car park, but the spaces are quite tight so we chose to park in a public car park and on the road during our visits.

Room Tip: Pay cash and get some Lubeck marzipan.

Stayed at the hotel for one night only. We were lucky to get a parking place in the garage, but please note that the parking garage is very narrow and it can be difficult to navigate and even park your car. So you have to be confident when using the garage.

The check in procedure was okay and same for thr check-out. Staff was very nice. The room was clean but not that modern. The free wi-fi connection was almost non-existing!

We had booked our hotel via Hotel.com and the reservation said that breakfast was included in the price, but after checking our bill we discovered that the hotel had charged us €5 per person for breakfast! The breakfast was okay.

Stayed with kids. Arrived Late in the evening and consequently there was trouble finding a parking place for the car. Hotel's own parking places seem to be limited. Hotel's corridors are very narrow and elevators lack space as well. At breakfast orange juice was watered down, which I absolutely hate. Coffee was weak. And the whole breakfast was just not up to the standard of good family owned German hotels. The price I payed was not at all in line with what I got as a service. There are so many good small hotels in Germany, but unfortunately to me on this visit this hotel was not one of them.
