“Perfect location, very friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

We went for a weekend in old Lubeck, and you certainly could not wish for a better location! We came by train, and it´s only ten minutes walk to the hotel.
Not the very newest design, but very friendly, nice wiews from both rooms, and a very good breakfast even if there was no hot food (bacon, sausages etc). Very reasonable price for this location and standard. Amazingly quiet!!
Pillows much too big, but that´s rather a rule in hotels, so I always bring my own.

Ringhotel Jensen is situated alongside river Trave in an old, typical hanseatic house. The hotel offers free of charge parking in public parkinghouse 2 min walk away. Rooms are modern, with beautyful view of some of Lubeck's best known attractions (those situated towards the river). The staff is very friendly, no problem for those not speaking german. Therese is a good restaurant in the hotel basement, or you can enjoy a glass or two and a meal at the outdoor tables.

No swimming pool or fitness center, but who needs that when in Lubeck?

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the river.

My husband and I stayed at the Ringhotel Jensen for 2 nights in the middle of August. We loved this hotel in every way. Our room was at the front and looked over the canal. At first I was worried there would be too much noise but even in the height of the summer tourist season, everything was pretty much shut down by 9 and was quiet.

BEST THING of the hotel is the food! Huge selection of meats, cheeses, breads, friendly and prompt service. One night we ate canalside at the attached seafood restaurant and had a wonderful meal. I had the best potato I have ever had in my life... who would have thought a simple dish of boiled buttered potatoes would be so good? Fresh, perfectly cooked creamy potatoes in butter and parsley... I think one test in a restaurant is how the very simple side dishes are treated.

Would stay here again on our next trip.

Only a stone's throw from the Lübecker Tor(gate) which is a very old gate which used to be the only way into the city. Just as an aside it must be mentioned here that Lübeck has a lot of churches and is also the home of the Niederegger Marzipan factory and shop. The Hotel is located right down by the water front on a quaint street not far from any restaurants and shops around the corner. Lübecks location in directy contact to the Baltic makes it an ideal port and harbour for fishermen and one can see a number of refurbished sailing ships on the harbour front as well as the street leading from the harbour up toward the Rathaus(City Hall) which is located at a centrally located city square where a thriving market operates for local consumption. Our room at the Hotel was comfortable and cosy though to call it spacious would be overstating it. The window pointed out to the rear courtyard and it made for a very nice, quiet night for catching up on our sleep after having left Hamburg the previous afternoon. We chose to dine at a restaurant on the way to the city square but did enjoy the next morning's breakfast with relish. The breakfast was tasty, plentiful and very well presented and we were treated very well by the staff. this is one of those finds that I visited first a number of years back and love to return to as is the town of Lübeck which always presents new surprises every time. The accommodation charge was quite reasonable for northern Germany at 80 Euros for two including breakfast.

Room Tip: Try to pick a roome facing to the rear though Lübeck is not a noisy town.

We too had a view of the Holstentor from our window. Room was small but well-equipped. There was some street noise during the night. Next time we might try a room not facing the Holstentor, but we would definitely go back to this hotel if we went again to Lubeck. The breakfast was great with lots of variety. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and fluent in English. And the location could not be beat.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the Hostentor are probably quieter but the view from our room was great.

This hotel is in a good location and the restaurant on site is very good. The rooms are average, but comfortable enough and the breakfast is fine. Nothing amazing to say about it, but nothing negative either.

I just returned from four days in Lubeck, and the only thing I would change (next time) is somewhat warmer weather. (It was about zero F while I was there.) I paid for a "superior single" for the extra space, as it was a room with two twin beds, flush against the sidewalls of the room. The bathroom is petite, but quite adequate for one. Plenty of hot water. Everything very clean and well-cared for.

This was my second trip to Lubeck (first was in 2006) and I wanted a hotel with real personality and a beautiful view: Hotel Jensen was perfect.

First, Hotel Jensen is in an historical building directly on the waterfront. I was on the second floor ("First Floor" in Europe) with a spectacular view over the Holstentor, the symbol of Lubeck and an interesting museum inside.

Second, everyone at the Reception was superbly helpful, with all kinds of requests. There is a computer with internet connection at one side of the reception desk, free to use, which took care of most of my information needs. You get one free hour of internet connect time in your room per 24 hours, and 24 hours costs about 6 Euro.

Third, the food at breakfast and in the connected restaurant was simply outstanding. I usually try several restaurants for the sake of variety, but my first night's dinner at the Yachtzimmer Restaurant was excellent and there were so many attractive options I wanted to try, I ate there every night of my stay.

Fourth, and not last, the location is perfect for visiting the sights of Lubeck. Everything is in walking distance, including the train and bus stations, and the tourist sights of the old town. Do try to see the UNESCO-funded archaeological excavations going--the day I went it was closed because it was too cold to do any work.

Room Tip: If you ask for a room on the front, you will have a view of the water and of the Holstentor. This m...
