The reception was friendly and efficient. The hotel lobby is spacious and tidy. A decent sized room with nice views of the Old Town. Parking in front of the hotel is good and from Saturday night to Monday morning free of charge. Check-out was smooth.

Across short bridge from the old town, vast multiwing modern business hotel with great views (from many rooms) of Old Town, short walk to HBF and Old Town. Convenient for returning to the room and then back to touring the town. Lavish breakfast with many buffets and choices, pleasant staff. We chose an upgraded room with living room area. Sliding door to large bathroom with huge composite wood floor shower stall with linear drain. Many business meetings, including in lobby, but quiet hallways for our single night. Ample closet space.

Brutal traffic in Lübeck, 15 minutes just to get through the worst traffic circle at 2:30 pm on a weekday.

Room Tip: Upgraded old-city river view.

We stayed here en route from Copenhagen to Berlin. Lubeck is a gorgeous town, and the hotel is well located 600m from the train station. So far it is the least expensive room we have stayed in during our Northern European trip.

Our room was a good size, with a modern bathroom and a lovely view. The wifi worked well. We paid extra for the breakfast which was extensive. Only downsides were the lack of a fitness Centre, and we didn't love the shag pile type carpet on the floor.

This hotel is good value for money.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Senator on our way from Munich to Copenhagen, and were delighted at the location and quality of the hotel. The location is not far from the railway station, and also on the edge of the old city, well situated for a leisurely stroll through the town.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the water. The staff was friendly and very helpful, providing maps for our walk and suggestions of places to see. In the morning, they cheerfully arranged for a taxi to take us back to the railway station in plenty of time to catch our train.

I was disappointed that the hotel did not offer a complimentary breakfast, as is usual for many hotels in Germany, but it was only about a ten minute walk into town to find coffee and a pastry so we got along fine.

This is a very nice, modern hotel with a gracious and professional staff.

Pluses:

Location. Walking distance from the train station and the sights.

Terrace. Very quiet and comfortable hotel terrace with loungers and a view over the old city. Perfect spot to chill with a drink (or without).

Shower. Yes, as other reviewers noted, it makes a mess on the floor since it's not fully enclosed, but since it wasn't my mess to clean up, I didn't mind. Overall, the best hotel shower ever, particularly the simplicity of operation and control. Showercaps are a nice touch, too.

Room size and the room in general. Generously sized, well-maintained, well-furnished. Mostly quiet - you can sometimes hear water noises, but these were rare and not disturbing. Huge plus (and pure architectural genius) - rooms are far from the elevators, so you're not bothered by elevator wooshes and dings during the morning breakfast exodus.

Minuses:

Huge minus for the pillows. I realise that some wear and tear is impossible to avoid in a hotel, but the old, saggy, lumpy pillows really deserve retirement and replacement (and if they are not old, then the supplier of these pillows deserves replacement and the hotel deserves a refund). It was like sleeping on a sack of potatoes which was hard, bumpy and paradoxically flat at the same time. I don't know if the reception keeps a secret stash of comfy pillows to be produced on demand for the pillow-snobs, but we didn't stay long so I didn't have a chance to ask.

Some things in the room could use some cleaning, particularly the seat of an armchair and the blackout curtains. There's a certain moment when tolerable wear and tear becomes eew. For me, a sticky oily chair seat is that moment.

Overall, would recommend. Would probably stay again, but only if the pillows in the other hotels are worse.
