Take the audio tour of Wittenburg. Be careful not to take too long because you need time to really see this house. You need to get the Audio tour back by 6 PM, so either skip to this is time is getting short or watch pace yourself. There is a great deal to see in Wittenburg, but you can do it in a day.

Excellent museum in this significant, historic building, all the more interesting for the domestic detail as well as the theologically important exhibits.

The Lutherhaus is a very good example of how things were in the days of Martin Luther. His living-room is still there, as well as his study.
The city guide gave a lot of information about the house itself and everything that was there.

There is a lovely open-air lunchroom in the garden, where they serve good food and drinks for a modest price.

I was skeptic about visiting an exhibition centered about the life of a man I thought I knew all about. Was I wrong! The Luther house is a permanent exhibition about the man and the movement he started, with the difference that it is the very place wher he lived, ate, slept and taught, and raised his children. The exhibition itself is a splendid collection of personal items, historic papers, objects, all giving us an overview of the man and the time in which he lived. The gems of the collection are the Lucas Cranach 10 commandments massive painting and Luther's gown. Make sure you visit the treasure chamber situated on the last floor, where are displayed in a controlled environment an original papal bull, a handwritten Bible of the 11th Century, letters from Erasmus, Luther and many original Dürer and Cranach woodcuts. These two small rooms alone are worth going all the way to Wittenberg.

Great museum. Well designed and maintained. Good starting point for a "Luther excursion" in Sachsen-Thüringen. Very extensive exhibition. Coffee shop available.
