“Excellent Museum on Handel”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Truly the best museum I have been to in Europe. Well laid out and keeps you interested (even for the non musician). All very high tech. Wonderful collection of period instruments. The staff is helpful and friendly. Souvenirs are less expensive than at the Bach Museum in Leipzig. When you are finished walk over to the church for a recital or rehearsal (I listened to a rehearsal of the Bach b minor Mass). Afterwards go to the square behind the church for lunch at one of the food trucks.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

It was a rainy & chilly day, when a museum is always a good idea, but this museum was certainly worth a couple of hours of our holiday time. The life & work of G. F. Handel is attractively portrayed, with enough information to educate & inform, but without going into the kind of detail that can sometimes overload. There was a good balance between informing about the man himself and about his music. I also enjoyed learning about the social, political and historical background of those times, which influenced the success of the composer. The comprehensive collection of historical instruments is also very interesting & well presented.

“The Greatest Composer Museum in Europe?”
Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

I am astonished that this museum does not get better reviews. After touring every major town of the old DDR last year this stood out as the best museum with the Bach Museum in Leipzig a close second. A truly great musical experience with Handel's German and English lives covered in great detail. Fantastic collection of instruments and wonderful drawings and prints of 18th century London. This is the Handel House museum designed for intelligent adults and Handel enthusiasts. None of the rubbish served up at the London 'museum' here and no toffee nose staff on hand to offer no help.

“A Musical Experience”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

This museum set in the birthplace of Handel gives a comprehensive review of the composers life and works. Interactive commentary leads you from room to room with suitable musical interludes. All very modern and high tech - see the morphing of 8 portraits of handel set into one face as t ages over the years. Lots of buttons to press forchildren as well. Slightly off the beaten track between the Moritzburg Castle (good carpark) to the city centre - St Thomas church for organ recital at noon daily.
