Description: One of Leipzig’s landmarks is the Bayerischer Bahnhof. It was built in 1842 and is the oldest preserved head rail station in the world. It was the region’s busiest hub for tradesmen and travellers.Today, the Bayerischer Bahnhof is famous for its hospitality and culinary delights – and it is known as the home of the Gose, a beer specialty from Leipzig. The Bayerischer Bahnhof is an exclusive location for every event. Our culinary program is as extraordinary as our location: traditional German cuisine, diversity, and seasonal trends. Quench your thirst with home-brewed specialities from our in-house brewery at the Bayerischer Bahnhof.

What a special pretty much in the middle of Leipzig. The old converted railway station is full of history and brimming with life. They serve good local food and a wonderful beer brewed on the premises (micro brewery) and best of all at very reasonable prices. Make sure you try their special beer - the Gose beer. We would go back there any day.

Dear downunder45,

we are delighted that you visited us all the way from Australia and that you enjoyed your stay at our restaurant. Recently, we had a request from a beer partner in Down Under who wanted to import our Gose. Thus, you might soon have the chance to refresh yourself with an Original Leipziger Gose.

With best regards,
Elisa Schumann

This place has a cool laid back vibe and offers traditional brats and beers. Located in a renovated train station and near a stop on the current local train this is a great place for someone visiting Leipzig. Highly recommended.

This restaurant/brewery is located in an old train station (possibly being renovated). The Gose beer was good and the atmosphere and decorations had a train theme. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I visited this restaurant several times when the City Tunnel was still under construction and the area outside was a huge building site - just to see the progress and the sliding of complete buildings to clear the site. What an effort to reconstruct the entire quarter! And the result is abolutely worth visiting. Also the restaurant is a must-see and must-try, but phone for seats beforehand. Although it's really big, there are always bunches of people looking for a table - even busloads of tourists. The restaurant in this historic station is absolutely great: nostalgic flair of yesteryears, home-made food and traditional German down-to-earth dishes and beer, beer, beer. They even make their own beer called Gose. No problem to take your kids with you, there's so much to see inside and out, but if they insist on the ususal fastfood as the only edible meal on earth, this place won't be the right one for them.

Dear Sabina G,

we very much enjoyed reading your rating of the Bayerischer Bahnhof and our restaurant. During the last couple of years the environment around the former train station has changed so much that almost every day one could discover something new. We are looking forward to the completion of the green forecourt of the City-Tunnel and the Bahnhof. We are lucky that Leipzig is evolving fast and that we're right in the center.

We hope you will come by to enjoy our culinary delights and take a look at the exciting things happening all around our Bahnhof.

With best regards,
Elisa Schumann

Got to order Schweine Haxe and beer and you'll be fine, but don't expect to get a seat without waiting some time.

Dear sasha51,

thank you for the positive feedback you wrote about your visit at the Bayerischer Bahnhof. I hope you did not travel from California to Leipzig only to get a bite of our pork knuckle (as the other dishes are also very tasty).

We are looking forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to Leipzig.
With kind regards,
