Description: Welcome to the Gunpowder Tower! Originally built in 1565, the tower formed an important part of Dresden's fortifications, and, as its name suggests, was used to store gunpowder safely in the ground - it was a pretty explosive place back then! You will find the restaurant in the historical centre of dresden in the vaultet ceilings of the "Coselpalais" next to "Frauenkirche". The Pulverturm with a total of 400 seats is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. As you dine beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Marshal de Saxe Room, or the Russian or Turkish vault, you will experience a part of the history of Saxony while enjoying a truly royal saxon dining experience. Of course, your table will have a sumptious basket of oven-fresh breads from the Arsenal Bakery, just a few yards away. This is also where the court patissier creates sweet delicacies for dessert. Perhaps Milord and Milady would fancy a juicy suckling pig or other rustic dishes prepared before your eyes in our open-air kitchen, along with your choice of ice-cold german beer or delicious local wines. You may even be tempted to buy some plunder from the strolling sutler! The "Condemned Man's Last Meal" served in the dungeon, of course, is an unforgettable experience. Our lovely maidens and brave grenadiers will serve you delicacies. Throughout the evening, strolling magicians will ensure nonstop merriment and diversion. Last but not least you should not miss out on the famous funnel drinking, called "Dresdner Trichtertrinken".

The restaurant is centrally located near the Frauenkirche and the atmosphere gives the eyes much to admire. We were greeted and seated promptly and the service was great. We have dined here several times. The pork dishes and potato soup were great. I would not recommend the chicken or fish as they were not as good. It seems pork is their specialty. Will return many times.

The place is a bit Micky Mouse, yet it does the trick after a while. The service is friendly, attentive and fast. The food is good and the portions are generous. But you pay a tourist premium.

Not sure about the place. If you are a tourist and don't mind being surrounded by tourists doing a tourist thing you are in the right spot. Why not ... You are most likely a tourist reading this.

We were received friendly and placed according to our reservation. The waiting period on the ordered drinks and dishes was measured, even if we had to find out irritated that in the restaurant continuously excursions with tourists were carried out who admitted only conditioned ambient noise for talks. While the dishes were taken up as excellent, the artistic musical company in this evening was a rather lower level.
