Description: Welcome to the Gunpowder Tower! Originally built in 1565, the tower formed an important part of Dresden's fortifications, and, as its name suggests, was used to store gunpowder safely in the ground - it was a pretty explosive place back then! You will find the restaurant in the historical centre of dresden in the vaultet ceilings of the "Coselpalais" next to "Frauenkirche". The Pulverturm with a total of 400 seats is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. As you dine beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Marshal de Saxe Room, or the Russian or Turkish vault, you will experience a part of the history of Saxony while enjoying a truly royal saxon dining experience. Of course, your table will have a sumptious basket of oven-fresh breads from the Arsenal Bakery, just a few yards away. This is also where the court patissier creates sweet delicacies for dessert. Perhaps Milord and Milady would fancy a juicy suckling pig or other rustic dishes prepared before your eyes in our open-air kitchen, along with your choice of ice-cold german beer or delicious local wines. You may even be tempted to buy some plunder from the strolling sutler! The "Condemned Man's Last Meal" served in the dungeon, of course, is an unforgettable experience. Our lovely maidens and brave grenadiers will serve you delicacies. Throughout the evening, strolling magicians will ensure nonstop merriment and diversion. Last but not least you should not miss out on the famous funnel drinking, called "Dresdner Trichtertrinken".

“Suckling Pig”
Reviewed May 9, 2014 via mobile

After a walking tour of Dresden we went to the PulverTurm for a group dinner. The location is excellent and the restaurant has been cleverly integrated into the ruins of the tower.

As we walked to our table the suckling pig on the spit roast caught my eye.

The food and beer were excellent and the staff were attentive and helpful. Overall a great experience to finish my day.

Located in the centre, in the historical side of Dresden just next to the impressive chairch of Our Lady. Ideal for groups of tourists, with outdoor- sitting at Summer, but the inside is more interesting as is very traditionally decorated. The food we had, was also the traditional snitchel with potatos and carrots, but was tasty. They served us traditional home- made bread, one with nuts and the other with ham, really was incredible and you can buy for home if you want, as you leave.German-beers were cold, the service was good and quick and they amussed us with acordeon and local German songs. The dessert was ice-cream with fruits.Reccomended !
Leave with nice memories. I WOULD GO AGAIN.

“Great, authentic food !”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Although sort of a theme restaurant, it does so in an authentic and genuine way. Not annoying at all! And the food is freshly made and great, so definitely a recommendation.

“Great Ambience!!”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

The location is fantastic, the food is good and the beer is tasty. If the sevice can be improved a bit, then the place is really excellent. The staff is friendly but the service was rather slow.

“Terrible service, food nothing special”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

It was a big mistake to go to this restaurant. I think that the restaurant is very truistic.
We had dirty table. It was first minus. Second minus was service. We were waiting long time for the food. They brought us main course. We told that we had ordered also soups. The man told us you want the soup ???? We told yes and he looked at us very ugly. So he took away plates with our main course.
So someone else brought us the soup and after while our main course. So we had full table, the main course was could, because we had to finished our soup.
We were waiting more than 20 minutes for cleaning a table. No service.
The food was nothing special. My boyfriend didnť like it. For me it was normal food, nothing special.
