Description: Welcome to the Gunpowder Tower! Originally built in 1565, the tower formed an important part of Dresden's fortifications, and, as its name suggests, was used to store gunpowder safely in the ground - it was a pretty explosive place back then! You will find the restaurant in the historical centre of dresden in the vaultet ceilings of the "Coselpalais" next to "Frauenkirche". The Pulverturm with a total of 400 seats is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. As you dine beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Marshal de Saxe Room, or the Russian or Turkish vault, you will experience a part of the history of Saxony while enjoying a truly royal saxon dining experience. Of course, your table will have a sumptious basket of oven-fresh breads from the Arsenal Bakery, just a few yards away. This is also where the court patissier creates sweet delicacies for dessert. Perhaps Milord and Milady would fancy a juicy suckling pig or other rustic dishes prepared before your eyes in our open-air kitchen, along with your choice of ice-cold german beer or delicious local wines. You may even be tempted to buy some plunder from the strolling sutler! The "Condemned Man's Last Meal" served in the dungeon, of course, is an unforgettable experience. Our lovely maidens and brave grenadiers will serve you delicacies. Throughout the evening, strolling magicians will ensure nonstop merriment and diversion. Last but not least you should not miss out on the famous funnel drinking, called "Dresdner Trichtertrinken".

The location is fantastic, the food is good and the beer is tasty. If the sevice can be improved a bit, then the place is really excellent. The staff is friendly but the service was rather slow.

It was a big mistake to go to this restaurant. I think that the restaurant is very truistic.
We had dirty table. It was first minus. Second minus was service. We were waiting long time for the food. They brought us main course. We told that we had ordered also soups. The man told us you want the soup ???? We told yes and he looked at us very ugly. So he took away plates with our main course.
So someone else brought us the soup and after while our main course. So we had full table, the main course was could, because we had to finished our soup.
We were waiting more than 20 minutes for cleaning a table. No service.
The food was nothing special. My boyfriend didnť like it. For me it was normal food, nothing special.

Very bad service and the place was almost empty. Food was just ok nothing special. Although we we expected a traditional german restaurant we found it to be a fake imitation with touristic decoration.

If you would like to have traditional German dishes served in stylish scene you are definitely in the right place. Though the restaurant can have an air of kitsch it offers tasty local food for reasonable price. Interior of restaurant is huge, consisting of several separated rooms. The service during our stay was balanced.

Was lucky to find a table on a Saturday evening before 6 pm. Food was excellent, very hearty and good portions. Great atmosphere as well with the medieval theme. A bit hard to find the entrance of the restaurant though.
