Owner description: This 394-foot mural along the wall in the Royal Mews courtyard depicts a parade of Saxony rulers, some walking, others on horseback. Scratched into stucco by the artist in 1876, the mural was later recast onto porcelain tiles and, incredibly, survived the 1945 bombing of Dresden that destroyed most buildings.

“Survived the firestorm of '45”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

All of the Wettiner Kings (personally, I hadn't even heard of them before but apparently they are one of the longest ruling dynasties in Germany, so there...) and yes, because the tile had been hardened three times, it survived the fire storm.

“Very impressive!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

If you notice, Augutus Rex is the only one looking out at you. Wonderful piece of art! It's totally free and very close to all the other tourist attractions, so definitely make sure you walk past it!

“Lovely”
Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

This mosaic is just off the square where the Frauenkirche is. During the day it is impressive although it is hard to do it justice with photos. At night though it becomes spectacular as it is rather subtly lit and the whole thing seems to glow and become plastic.

“Abbreviated history of Dresden rulers.”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

This tiled facade of all the generations of Dresden rulers following in succession is a wonderful quick illustrated history lesson for those interested. It is located on an exterior wall of the Dresden Castle.

“Nothing exciting”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

I passed this mural a few times on my way to or from the hotel. It's not quite as impressive as others on tripadvisor have suggested.
