Great hotel, clean, bright ,beautiful view over the river Elba and the old city. Within walking distance to all tourist attractions, breakfast well above any other we had in Germnany. A extremely pleasant stay.

Stayed for 4 nights a week or so ago.

Very conveniently placed - a short walk into the old town and a walk over the bridge to the Neustadt.

Staff were pleasant. Did not try the restaurant, but the breakfast was well above average - a very wide choice of pretty much whatever you want. Breakfast room was also attractive with a nicely landscaped area surrounded by trees if you want to eat it outside.

Our bedroom (a standard double) was large, clean and comfortable. Decor was neutral and rather lacked character (fine if you're one of those people who likes beige). Great views of the old city from the windows.

Worth getting a room on one of the higher floors in order to avoid the traffic noise from the major road down below (we were on the 7th and it wasn't really a problem).

Dresden is gradually demolishing the various eyesores which were thrown up in the centre in the 1950, 60s and 70s. Unfortunately this hotel is one of the worst, but at least you can't see it from your room.

All in all a perfectly decent place to stay if you're in town.

Just spent 2 nights here and what a lovely hotel, ok it looks like a 1960's block of flats from the outside, but inside the rooms are modern ,spacious a nice bathroom with power shower, lovely white linen and fluffy towels. The breakfast buffet is superb hot and cold the best we had whilst in our stay in Germany, you can sit indoors or out. A lovely smiling young barman in the bar. This hotel is not the cheapest at 109 euros for a double rm with breakfast, but the location is excellent near to the river and a ten minute walk max into the old town. There is not a car park but the street and the carpark at the side of the hotel only charges 3 euros per 24hrs. Ask for a room on a higher floor facing the old town and you won't be disappointed with the view!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days last week. Prior to going I read the review posted by the member from Dallas, Texas and was concerned that the hotel would not come up to the expected standard. To me, "You get what you pay for" means having paid peanuts and received little in return. This could not be further from the truth so fas as Am Terrassenfur is concerned. The average price for a double room is 125 euro (87.50 British Pounds or 152 US dollars). I would not call this cheap but it does represent great value and includes an absolutely fabulous breakfast. The choice is amazing and, being buffet, you can eat as much as you like. The hotel was beautifully heated in all areas, as it was bitterly cold outdoors, and could not have been more comfortable. Dresden, even in July and August, never has temperatures which warrant air conditioning in rooms. Bedrooms are large and well furnished and have windows which can be opened wide in summer, if necessary. Unlike air conditioning, the air is clean as there is no industry nearby. It is true that bathrooms have no bath, but showers are really efficient and there is constant hot water. Who wants to lie in a bath these days, in any case?!! Showers are far healthier and cleaner. The bathrooms are compact, but sparkling clean and have everything you need (except a bath!!). The location is fantastic - everything of interest is within a few minutes walk and it is easy to get from the airport. If you want to save on taxi fares, S-Bahn (located on the lower ground floor of the terminal building) to Dresden Neustatd station then number 3 tram, almost to the hotel door, is a mere 1.70 euro. The same ticket covers train and tram. The hotel's restaurant, The Pavilion, is very good and the food is not expensive. Staff are helpful and friendly and very efficient. If we decide on a return visit to Dresden, this will be the hotel of our choice.

I stayed here for one night when attending an REM concert. The hotel was a great location for it - just a 10 min walk over the bridge and it had some great views from the room. The staff were very nice and there is a large reception area with seats and a bar. Breakfast was also great. I would stay here again with any hesitation!

As noted in some of the other reviews, this hotel is relatively cheap, and is not too far from the city center. However, I was surprised to find that it did not have air conditioning in the rooms, and had showers only (no bath tub) in the bathroom. If those are not concerns, then go for it.

Extremely nice hotel with reasonable room rates. Easy and pleasant 8-minute walk along the river into the gorgeous historic city center. Ask for a room with a river view. You will love it. I would return here in a heartbeat.
