I’m not really sure if 4 stars is the right review but here it goes! The museum has a mix of Romanticism to modern art, most of which relates to Germany. I thoroughly enjoyed the front part of Romanticism, with lovely works from Friedrich and striking triptychs from the excellent Otto Dix. The audio guide was a great accompaniment. Would have missed out a few allegories for Faith if weren’t for it. I am not a fan of modern art so the latter part of the museum didn’t hold my interest for long, but there were some good reflections on german history. Went on a Sunday and it was free entrance after 3pm, probably adding to my happiness at the museum. It doesn’t have the most extensive collection and I didn’t understand the logic behind some curated rooms but overall it was a fantastic gallery of Dresden’s art. Once again, highly recommend the audio guide.
