We had a delicious 3-course meal at Maru in April 2014. The bulgogi (Korean BBQ) was great and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. 3 courses for 2 people plus a bottle of wine was just over 50€, so very reasonable. We'd definitely go back.

The food, the atmosphere, the decor, the service, it is a complete experience that is made to look effortless. Its stunning simplicity makes it all the more beautiful.

The food is authentic Korean fare with no bells and whistles, or modifications to appease the Western tongue, they will play with the "hot"ness factor if you ask for it.

The only downside is the wine selection but this is far eastern food, so it'd be unreasonable to expect that.

Definitely worth a visit.

This is a cute small place with great food. The menu is short, which is usually a good sign. We tried mandu (fried dough stuffed with vegetables), kimchi, pickled cucumber, marinated potatoes, fried pancakes from mungbean flour and bulgogi. All was very very tasty and we can say this after having tried korean food from San Francisco to China (not in Korea).

The price for all this was very reasonable. We also got to try milky sweet sake, an option you don't easily get in Europe. The decoration is minimalistic and you get the feeling of being in a korean home. The location is very convenient, just 2 minutes walk off the busy streets of Neustadt. Few tables only, reservation for the busy hours might be a good idea. Absolutely recommendable!
