“Nice Modern Hotel near the Railway Station”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

I chose Pullman among the four Accor Hotels close to Dresden Railway Station because it was the closest, though the other three Ibises turned out to be only two minutes away, and cheaper. However, I also got a good discount on bed and breakfast basis for eighty euro for a double. Though we arrived a couple of hours earlier than specified check-in time, we were checked in promptly and professionally into an upper floor room that had a great view through these panoramic windows. The room was lovely and of good size, and though the bathroom was a glass cubicle in the middle of the room, it was spacious and had curtains around for privacy. Thee buffet breakfast was legendary, with everything you could wish for, and the service was friendly and impeccable. Wi-fi in the room was expensive, but we could have unlimited free use of computer terminals and printers in the business centre. The hotel is 5 minutes walk to the Dresden main Railway Station and a quater of an hour walk to the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche and other attractions in the Alstadt, through a nice shopping street. May be it's more lively and noisy to stay in Neustadt where the restaurants are bars are more lively, but we were quite satisfied with Pullman, and it's easy to get anywhere in Dresden on foot or by public transport anyway.

Stayed here for 4 days in July and requested upper floor, view toward old city center. Our room was just as requested, and even had a/c that mostly worked during the heat wave. (Hint--ask for SommerDecker for your beds--the lighter duvets). Breakfast is available (for a high fee) but if you go right behind the hotel back toward the train station there is a great cafe with large breakfasts for 1/2 the price (or less). The glass shower was novel--but has a curtain that you can draw. The room feels bigger than it is.

Room Tip: Upper floor with view of old city center

The hotel is a businesslike building next to the main train station, tramstops and the main Prager shopping area. It is only a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Altstadt

Pullman is meant to be superior to other Accor brands. However, the rooms were small, the lifts slow to arrive, and the buffet breakfast was overcrowded. At this price point I'd expect a bath, not a shower, coffee making facilities and free wifi. The Pullman offers none of these things.

At checkout, there was only one desk open and 6 people queueing. Again, acceptable in an Ibis, but not in Accor's premium brands

This is a great place to stay. It is very central, just a very short walk from the station. It is also just a very short walk to the "old Dresden" and many fine restaurants. It has great staff who speak English and are only too happy to help. Internet access both in the room and in the business centre. A very good breakfast, although a cheaper breakfast could be sort from the surrounding shops. A nice bar and the rooms are very interesting with the shower in the middle of the room which allows you to watch TV in the shower. Well worth a stay.

Room Tip: Any room is great.

I visited Dresden for two nights, for tourism, after three nights in Berlin at the Sofitel, where hospitality is sacrificed for location. The Dresden Pullman offers both hospitality and location, at a fraction of the Sofitel price.
I liked Dresden which I found surprisingly spacious. The city centre is now an interesting combination of reconstructed historical buildings, modern shopping centres and refurbished Soviet-era buildings, of which the hotel is one - but don't let that put you off. The hotel is thus strategically situated on the route from the station to the old quarter, on a route which is now wholly pedestrianised. A Dresden day ticket takes you quite far on public transport, including ferries.
Check-in and check- out was efficient - there always seemed to be someone ready at reception. My gold card was recognised, also in that I got a high room looking towards the city, but I would not have been bothered by a room to the south side.
The room was large and bright, and I liked the shower etc arrangement. Wi-fi is paying (why ?), so the choice is between Starbucks and three computers on the ground floor. The old CRT TV did not bother me - channel hopping is quicker. Why does the BBC channel give way to a shopping channel during the day, but not France 24 ?
I do not normally breakfast in city-centre chain hotels, but the breakfast-inclusive price was so advantageous that I took it. The breakfast was well-managed and well-supplied in a bright room which looks out on to the pedestrian way (and there is a terrace).
A hotel to return to.

Excellent location which is near to the main station, shopping district. Walk to the old town is about 20mins away. Hotel is neat, and modern. I like its breakfast buffet but will be better if there's free wifi in the room.
