“Unforgettable pumpkin soup”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2011

We had several eateries around our hotel, but went to this place twice in a row. They serve unforgettable pumpkin soup with ginger. Other food was more or less typical - mild fish (they call it pike perch), shnitzel, Saxon dumplings (they are very similar to Italian polenta, not Bavarian dumplings). Although the bar counter looks like a pub, it's a good place to try German white wine; house Riesling was great, not the sickly sweet water they sell as German wine in the USA. The restaurant was filled to capacity with both locals and tourists, very pleasant atmosphere. One of the best we had in Germany.

“One up from school dinners”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2011

Six of us (including one vegetarian) went for dinner. The restaurant is a large modern 'pub' with tables for eating. The menu is old- fashioned over-cooked, heavy Saxon fare, which has not moved on in 30 years. The menu was frighteningly long - the food cannot be freshly prepared from such a big menu - most of it must be cook-chill. We shared a chopped ham salad starter and a fried camembert starter (good old 70's dishes) and then I had their special dish which was the roast goose, which came with some sort of chopped, overcooked cabbage in a slimy cornflour sauce (revolting). The person who had bratwurst and mashed potato probably chose the most wisely. But our vegetarian pronounced her meal 'excellent' - not common in Germany where 'vegetarian' means being offered a fish or chicken dish!

“Delightful outdoor dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2010

We had lunch on the outdoor terrace and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Soups, sandwiches, and especially desert were excellent. Service was perfect.
