This is the cafe in Dresden's main arts complex, the Zwinger palace, which houses the museum of classical painting (old masters, hence the name), the porcelain collection etc. A very pleasant place to sit, good views, good selection of wines, Ok food. But not to be missed because some of the Zwinger's best Cranachs, including Adam and Eve, are hanging just outside the door.

Nice ambiance, nice staff, good wines and a very good Kitchen. First I had a very nice raw tuna on a bed of kuskus, followed by an an orange soup with a coquilles st jacques. A new taste for me and very nice. Main course filet de boeuf with fresh vegetables was also excellent.

We went there for dinner just before we went to the opera. I had the deer trilogy, meat a point with an amazing color after cut. My lady had pasta which were really homemade. Overall we were so happy with the food and the wine. The service so kind. Even they took care that we are in time for our opera appointment.
So, service great, ambience is super modern in a historic building (I like), reasonable price level and only one minute to go to the opera.
You definitely should go there.

By day, this is the cafe to the Old Masters gallery of the Zwinger museum. By night, it is a sophisticated restaurant serving local German and other dishes to a high standard. It is also handy for the Semper Opera and our first meal (of 2) was a pre-concert supper. This was served efficiently but without reducing the pleasure of the food. Our second meal was more leisurely. The Alte Meister has a small but good winelist (mainly German) and very friendly staff, who put up with my lack of German language with good humour and patience. Highly recommended but you need to book in the evenings.
