I haven’t been to this region of Germany for about 30 years and I was absolutely amazed by what I saw. Although quite a lot of reconstruction work is going on in Dresden (as in other major cities in Germany), this part of the town is lovely and the hotel a small jewel box in the area. It is graded as a three star hotel (I think) but is in excellent condition and is impeccably clean. It is furnished with good quality mock antique furniture and everything is of very good quality. The restaurant is huge with a bar and when the weather is fine you can have a meal or a drink in the garden. The sumptuous buffet breakfast is a good start for the day and the food selection of the restaurant of the hotel is attractive. This hotel is not directly in the city centre but the bus stop is a three minute walk from the hotel. If you are lucky, you can park your car a few steps away from the hotel. Staff will warn you not to leave your car in front of the entrance as that is a no parking zone and your car will be towed away. All in all, the atmosphere of the place is a real experience.
