Having enjoyed a meal here last year and noticing how busy the restaurant was, we booked ahead by email, got a positive reply and turned up looking forward to sampling the menu's local specialities. Alas, our booking had not been noted in the book and we were offered seats in the very crowded brewhouse part of the premises, where a short version of the menu operates.
So instead of dinner with wine we tucked in to lyoner sausage salad and a baked potato with (tasteless) cheese, washed down by the Stiefel's own unfiltered beers (the light being tastier than the dark). Our waitress was most attentive despite being run off her feet (more staff needed?) and this, along with very reasonable prices and a lively ambience, partly made up for our initial disappointment.
Recommended, but don't trust their booking system!
