“Good comfortable hotel”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed at the Deutscher Hof for one night on our recent visit to Trier. We found it to be a very well run, comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff and in a good location. The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable, and we were provided with a very good breakfast. There is car parking available.

Though large this is a family run hotel, with the extra care and attention that implies. It is modern, but stylish rather than plastic. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, unusually there are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. The service cannot be faulted. The restaurant provides a decent standard, and the breakfast is excellent. We stayed in six different hotels on a little touring holiday in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany: this was the cheapest and the best.

I stayed here some time ago with my children while on a touring holiday in Germany. The hotel was clean, comfortable and efficiently run, the food was good and resonably priced and the location was convenient for the Roman sites in Trier. I also like the way the hotel stays in touch after you've gone home with newsletters, Christmas greetings and so on.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the hotel itself, rather than in the annexe.

family Hotel, very friendly, good breakfast and good restaurant. Boss is the mother of the family, very flexible and caring for the best of her guests.

Also possible acces for Bus-Groups. The way from the hotel to the City center is about 5 minutes. You can reach the Roman Baths (Imperial Baths) within 3 Minutes and the "Basilika within 5 Minutes. All these are genuine Roman buildings, erected in the times and under the government of Constantine the great.

Firstly I am surprised that this hotel has not been rated higher! My partner and I had a most enjoyable stay at this hotel. We spent the weekend in Trier to visit the Christmas markets. The hotel itself was not even a 10 minute walk from the markets and main shopping area in Trier making location alone fantastic!! Each member of staff we encountered was extremely helpful and polite and provided such a great service to us- we were very impressed. The room we had was impeccable, kept tidy and cleaned every day, decorated lovely and provided ample refreshments. Hot water in the shower was never an issue and the rooms were kept lovely and warm which was a welcome change from the snow outside! I will definitely be recommending this hotel to all my friends and anyone I know hoping to stay in Trier!

We stayed here late in the year and found it clean and comfortable. It was convenient for our driving tour and parking was easy. Excellent location for walking into the old section/shopping mall.

One negative: the charge for our room was made against our account when we made the reservation, not on the day we left. Regardless of the hotel policy, I do not believe this practice is right or fair.

This hotel is on a busy street right at the edge of the pedestrian zone. This makes the hotel a good choice for drivers, since it's easy to drive in, yet you're in the touristy old town pedestrian area after you cross the street. Although the rooms are fairly quiet, I had to wear earplugs due to emergency vehicles on the busy street. The parking fee was quite reasonable.
The front desk employees are very friendly, and have lots of great advice. One small negative of this hotel that one should be aware of, is that one has to go up and down 4 stairs to get to a lot of the rooms (no ramp available), which are located in an attached building. Although I didn't get that room, room 19 is especially difficult to get to, as you have to tackle another half flight of stairs in addition to the previously-mentioned 8 steps.
The room itself, while not particularly modern, had plenty of space, except for the rather cramped shower. I had no problems with temperature control. The internet worked well, and the price was very low--some 2 or 3 Euros as I recall.
What I like the most was the excellent restaurant. The food was truly gourmet at dinner--the best of my trip. In addition, the portions were generous and the prices very fair. They even added a complimentary amuse-bouche. I recommend eating here even if you don't stay at the hotel.

Room Tip: If you can't carry luggage up and down stairs, you will need to specify this when you reserve yo...
