The hotel is excellently located, just 5 minutes on foot from the train station. (Parking is available in the vicinity if you arrive by car.) It is right at the Porta Nigra, the famous ancient Roman gate to Trier, and at one end of Trier's old city, with all its sightseeing attractions. Our room was large, comfortable and well-furnished; WiFi worked will and the TV (mostly German-language stations) was high end. The bathroom is modern and pleasant, admittedly just with a shower and no bath. Staff is helpful and speak English well. A small annoyance is that the front desk is not open after 10 p.m., and if you return later, you need to go to the neighboring hotel (under the same ownership) for them to let you in.
The breakfast buffet, included in the room price, a standard item in German hotels, is unusually elaborate and tasty here.More
