Fantastic hotel. Has its own micro brewery and beer garden. Restaurant/s and swimming pool excellent. Staff helpful and friendly. No air con so it might be hot in the summer. We'll definately be back.

This was our second visit. Our first being about 10 years ago when there were just the two of us. This time we took our 7 year old daughter and our dog. It was better than I remembered it. The food was great, the room was lovely. It was an easy walk into Trier following the stream and walking through the gardening villages. Our dog was very welcome, they put a dog bed and treats in our room, there was also a sign to put on the door incase we had to leave him in the room. We didn't as he was welcome in the bar and restaurant. Whilst the service at the hotel was very good, the booking process was not easy. I sent email requests to the hotel prior to booking and they did not answer. I eventually had to phone to book and ask my questions.

A good reason for staying here is the house beer which is very good. The room I stayed in was attractively furnished, spacious, clean and warm. Trier centre is a 10 minute drive away and would have been walkable except that the pavements were snowy. The staff are friendly and helpful but there's no late night security; you have to take your room key (with heavy key fob) with you if you intend to be out late - the receptionist said it would be left on the desk after midnight unless the bar was still open!

The Blesius Garten is good, small hotel located in Trier.
The room is pretty simple, but clean. The only problem is that you hear all the noises of the near rooms.
The breakfast is ok and for dinner you have the possibility to choose between two different restaurants.

My partner and I just returned from a long weekend visit to Trier; we, as part of a group of 20, stayed at the Blesius Garten Hotel. We were disappointed with the hotel mainly because it did not have the amenities, style or atmosphere of a four star hotel: the rooms were very small with 1960s style furnishings, the bathrooms were tiny with an impossible shower arrangment, the TV was a tiny flatscreen, and the bathroom amenities were non-existant. While its possible that the hotel rooms are equipped with the items necessary for the hotel to achieve 4 star status (ie, there was a safe, 2 extra pillows, an adequate numbe of towels, etc), the hotel comes accross as nothing more than low cost "family-style"inn located above a restaurant/bar. The very dated decor throughout the property does not help - the look is old fashioned and not in a good or charming way.

The main level of the hotel is a large bar and micro-brewery and room after room of restaurant space (which was very busy over the weekend). The "lobby" consists of two sofas in a small corner area, thats it. There is a indoor swimming pool (more like a large bathrub) and a very small sauna; we took a quick look and had no interest in returning. Outside there is a large beer garden that was closed due to the time of year. The hotel is surrounded by parking lots with rather small spots that fill up on weekend nights.

We ate one dinner at the hotel and had breakfast each monring: the dinner was fine and good value for the money although the service is anything but personal. Our group was served by different waiters for each course without any one person overseeing the service - the place was packed with people and lots of groups and the staff was doing that they best the could under the circumstances but eating at this hotel has nothing to do with "dining". Breakfast each morning was fine with the expected items presented at the buffet table. Having designated tables for breakfast was a bit odd, but we were travelling with a group and it did not matter to us. Our group returned to the hotel on Sunday evening (at about 2300) to find the bar closed for the evening which was not very nice or hospitable - that an after dinner drink was not possible is riduclous at a hotel such as this.

Note that the hotel is located is a suburb of Trier that is about a 45-50 minute walk into town; a city bus into town takes about 10 minutes and a taxi is about EU. 10.00 each way. The neighborhood did not have much to offer and you are surronded by parking lots and apartment buildings, not vineyards as suggsted on the hotel's web site.

In summary, the Blesius Garten is not a bad place but its certainly not what one thinks of as a four star hotel. The hotel was not what we expected.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms over the kitchen. Also, the bathrooms in many rooms are tiny, be sure that you can mana...

We stayed here for a long weekend. When we arrived the hotel looked a little out of date and there was some maintenance at the roof going on. There is enough parking space around the hotel. The room itself was spacious, clean, well equipped and nicely furnished. Our room was located right beneath the roof, and during the day it became pretty warm in there. But thanks to the two ventilators and the two windows this did not bother us too much. According to the description the hotel is surrounded by vineyards, this might be the case, but at the hotel site you are not really aware of this. It takes you about 10 minutes with the car to get to the center of Trier.
The Hotel has two restaurants: a "biergarten" where they serve mainly food from the grill and an a-la-carte restaurant inside. We had our diner twice at the biergarten, the food was really tasty. Apparently the locals are also aware of this, so you might have to wait a little or you have to be on time if you don´t like waiting.

I have been an international business traveler for over 30 years, and encountered the good, bad and ugly as far as Hotels, The Blesius Garten is by far one the best hotels I have stayed at. The whole establishment runs like a 'swiss watch'. From the moment you enter, the greeting is warm and friendly, not canned. There are three restaurants for your cuisine choice. The braustube is a relaxed atmoshere where you can find their latest seasonal beers on tap direct from the brewery to you. Outside dinning is available in their wonderful garden, however this where the smokers congregate. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and priced to please. Don't miss the Sunday brunch.
