Stayed for 1 night last weekend on a weekend break to Germany. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We arrived early and had a coffee before heading off into town for a look around. They provided a map and explained the easy 10min walk to the town. On our return we checked into a very comfortable room. Not super lux but clean and nicely decorated with nice views over the gardens and town. Had a drink in the hotel bar and chatted to the waitress, she recommended several restaurants, made a reservation and booked us a taxi. The restaurant was excellent too. Breakfast on Sunday was top notch, wide variety and beautifully presented. And the only decent cup of tea I have had outside the UK! Would highly recommend for a visit to Trier or as a base for a tour of the local area.

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Hugel on our first visit to Trier recently. The experience was delightful. The hotel sits on a hillside and can be a bit tricky to find since it is nestled in a residential neighborhood atop a winding road.
But it is worth it.
The staff was very friendly, helpful and eager to please.
Our room was quite clean, modern, nicely decorated and very comfortable.
The restaurant was very good.
Villa Hugel is a gem.

We chose this hotel on the basis of very good reviews. After our stay I can say that all the very good reviews are worth every word! The villa is situated on a hill overlooking the city. It has a very family air. We arrived pretty late on a Friday evening and a bit hungry. We asked if we could eat something and they offered us soup. Very good taste, nicely served and it perfectly served its purpose. We had also a glass of Moselle sekt and then a good night sleep.

The very nice surprise of our stay was that we were offered a free upgrade, to a comfort room. The room was very, very clean and had a lovely terrace. Beds and pillows are comfortable, which made our sleep very sweet. By the way, we had the Dresden room.

We had the opportunity to enjoy the wellness facilities. What a joy!!! First, they offer for free in every room a basket with towels, bathrobes and slippers. We had a swim in the swimming pool whose water has around 28 degrees. Later on, we joined the sauna facilities. Fabulous!! They have 2 saunas, one at 60 degrees, the other one at 90 degrees. We enjoyed both of them! While taking breaks from sauna, we enjoyed the nice relaxation beds, which can be found both inside and outside, so if you have good weather, one can even get a sun tan! The staff comes from time to time to check on those at the spa facilities and to take orders for drinks. Let me close this point by saying that everything in the spa area is spotless!

Breakfast is absolutely fantastic! One really feels the 4 stars of this hotel. They do offer sekt, fresh juices, a large sort of meats, cheeses, salmon, fruits, sweets things, different types of breads, croissants, and they even cook eggs for you! Really, we did not miss a thing during our breakfast served on the terrace...

Parking is not a problem as long as you take the time to read the small note attached to the parking in front of the villa (which was full when we arrived) and you look for a parking space 50 metres further where they have more parking space available.

The friendliness of the staff, the loving details (candles, roses in a bowl with water, Rafaello candies on the pillow) made our stay one of the best ever!
We are already decided to return a.s.a.p. :)

In the meantime, you, those who wil have the chance to stay here, do enjoy everything this hotel has to offer!

From our side, many thanks to everybody who made our stay so lovely!

An excellent location and only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Trier. Room was great - although next time we may pay the higher price for a room with a terrace. The hotel facilities were immaculately clean and the service prompt and professional. The spa is very well designed and has once of the largest sauna cabins I have seen in a hotel. We had a very nice evening meal in the alcove window looking out at the valley view - sadly it was too windy to eat out on the fabulous terrace. Breakfast was a real treat, an amazing choice of foods on offer and all good quality fare. This is the place to stay in Trier.

Room Tip: If you are there in the summer try to get a room with a terrace - their aspect keeps the sun until w...

The owners give you a warm feeling and does everything to make yoyr stay comfortable.
Also the waiters are very professional and they see all your wishes in your eyes.
The breakfast is excellent.
Airconditioning is not available in the rooms and that is the only negative point

Villa Hugel has everything going for it - except its often difficult to access location. With clean and beautifully decorated and maintained interior, large rooms and expensive furnishings it was our first choice in visiting Trier. The staff were both friendly and more than helpful - they are proud of their hotel and it shows.Breakfast out on the terrace was excellent with its views over the valley and the swimming pool more than welcome after a day's driving down from the Rhine. Our only small criticism is the location and that's not something anyone can do much about. Be warned that the hotel is on a short steep spur road that's been deliberately narrowed to filter and slow traffic at its entrance, and as a result cars back up incessantly both day and night. And although the front of the Villa Hugel is set back some distance from the actual road, the sound of this traffic and the constant roar of the main road three or four hundred yards away made sleep difficult despite the double glazing. Maybe we were just unlucky in our room - normally we don't find such things a problem.

Room Tip: Seek out a room as far to the back of the hotel as you can - and as low off the ground as possible i...

We spent three nights at Villa Hugel in Trier. It was fantastic, from start to finish. The hotel is located overlooking Trier with beautiful views. It is in Trier, but not in the town center...about a 10 minute walk to the town center. The hotel is sort of on a hill so it overlooks Trier and is just lovely. Upon arriving, they had a nice parking lot so if you have a car, they do have parking. When you walk up to the Villa, you walk through a little garden they have made complete with a pond and what looked to be goldfish. I nice little sitting area just to the left before you enter the hotel. I remember feeling how everything was so light and airy when we walked in. Very pretty décor, lots of windows, lots of pretty upholstery and wall art. Just lovely. The people who checked us in were more than welcoming. The room was fantastic. Big, comfortable bed. We had a patio to our room with table and chairs. You had a view of Trier from the balcony. The room was decorated so nicely. It felt warm and inviting and the light/airy décor again. The room was large....had all of the amenities you needed. Bathroom was perfect with a great rain shower head. A towel warmer....just lovely. We did not use the spa but explored it. Had a swimming pool, a hot tub, many saunas.....if we did not have so much to see and do we would have used the spa more...it looked great! The bar area in the lobby was well decorated with beautiful upholstery again both on curtains and chairs. The dining room was light and airy as well and had plenty of windows overlooking Trier. They also had an outdoor terrace for eating....a bit cold when we were there but it looked lovely. Breakfast was fantastic....everything you could want. It was included with our room. They do serve dinner but only on certain days which I cannot remember. Maybe check with them. But plenty of great places to go and eat anyways. I think one night, even though they were not serving dinner, they offered soup and bread which I thought was a nice touch. So, they do serve dinner, but best to check what nights. Think they might not serve dinner on Sunday? Overall, my husband and I were thrilled with Villa Hugel. Not only beautiful and in a great location with great views....the staff.....everyone so polished, polite....and seemed happy to be working there! Thank you Villa Hugel...we will come again. And have already recommended your Villa to many. Thank you again. Oh, one more note, they also have bicycles that you can use to get around on:).
