The room was comfortable, and quiet, had a good bathroom and a huge tv with lots of channels. Plenty of parking spaces in front of the hotel. You are not staying in Trier, but just outside it, on the other side of the Mosel river. The town is twenty minutes walking. Breakfast was sober but fine, and we had dinner once in the hotel which wasn't very special. The hotel isn't bad at all but rather nondescript, not a place to stay all day.

We overnighted at this 3 star superior hotel en-route to and on our return from Austria.
We had a deluxe double room for €95 inclusive of a full breakfast. Both rooms were well furnished and the bathrooms had quality fittings and walk-in showers. The room on our return visit had a large patio which was not used due to the rain!
Evening meal taken in the restaurant/bar and a good range with reasonable prices. The hotel - located off the first junction of the motorway from the Luxembourg border at Wasserbilig is set in a wooded area and access coming from Trier centre could be a little confusing due to road system on the uphill route. Coming from the motorway however, is straightforward.
The hotel had a bus trip on the first visit but they ate in the main dining/entertainment room and did not cause any inconvenience.
Good internet access.
So with a comfortable but a little (not too much) firm bed I would recommend this as an overnight hotel but noting it is located above Trier across the river and not in walking distance to the city centre.

Room Tip: Take a deluxe room if your budget will cover this

To be able to reach this hotel you need to have the car, so the location is not the bestest. Upon checking in, they did not find my booking, even though I had my reservation confirmation. So its always good to check with the reception before the arrival, if all is settled. The place was very noisy, full of strange guests wandering around, did not feel very safe there, therefore I did not go for breakfasts or dinner, and after 2 nights I was relieved to leave. I would not stay there again.

Stadtwaldhotel is the perfect base for exploring Trier, the Mosel Valley, the Hunsruck, Luxembourg and the Saar Valley. The hotel is easy to find being only a short distance down the B51 from the Autobahn from Luxembourg and clearly signposted. We were so impressed that within an hour of arrival we had extended our planned stay! We had a large room with a double bed and a sofa bed. The room had underfloor heating, excellent storage for clothes and luggage, desk, TV and a lovely large bathroom. The shower was a walk-in 'wet-room' style facility and very nice to use. The wi-fi is excellent. The staff were all lovely people and very welcoming. I speak limited German but they were keen to change to English when I ran out of my vocabulary! The restaurant is very nice, well decorated, comfortable and immaculate with good service. The menu is very varied including regional and seasonal specialities and the prices are very moderate for the quality and portions. In fact, the portions often defeated us but that is not a criticism! This hotel is full of thoughtful touches catering for every possible need of the visitor. At breakfast (which has a huge and varied selection of hot and cold dishes) guests are invited to take filled rolls and free coffee when they depart each day.
We recommend this hotel without hesitation or reservation - it is a real find in a lovely setting.

We went there last December. It is true that when you enter the façade and the outside looks a bit old. However, once you enter things change.

There you will find very friendly staff, clean and big rooms, very good quality for the price.

It is located 200m from a P+R (place where you can park your car and take a free bus to the centre which is quite convenient)

We also had dinner there and it was very good (much better that what we eat in the center) The breakfast was included and was nice (real juices and not powder with water)

The only small thing they could improve is the WiFi connection. You have free WiFi but the connection was so poor that it was almost like nothing. Difficult even to send a message via Whatsapp (opening a website was almost impossible)
