We stayed here in March 2012 as part of a visit to the Moselle valley wine region. We chose this hotel as it was reasonably priced and was within walking distance of the city centre. Markus gave us a very warm welcome and put us in a lovely room in the little house just opposite the main hotel. The room was very spacious with an ante-room and a superb bathroom. Breakfast was excellent - we liked the fact that guests were invited to make packed lunches from the extensive buffet.
The walk into town takes about 15 minutes - it is a fairly steep climb on the way back, but a good way to work off a hearty German supper!

We booked without any recommendations, as we were only on a 3 night stay. We found a warm welcome, a well run establishment with good old fashioned service, great food and customer interest. We are not writing this review just because St Nicholas visited our door with chocolates or that the wine was sold by the glass so we could try various moselle wines or because they encouraged you to take a sandwich for lunch from the excellent fresh buffet breakfast. The cleanliness was tops, with shower glass doors cleaned each day etc. Heating that worked well and windows that opened safely. Trier was also great. Go and try for yourselves it must be even better in the spring or Autumn. Celia

Tried to walk it from the hotel to the center of town on day one but it is somewhat far. After that we had to drive to the center. If you have a car, this would be a good place to stay. Top marks to the attentive staff, except for the fact that we couldn't communicate in English. Thank goodness my partner spoke German!

After three days it's safe to say the hotel has been a pleasant surprise for us. We've booked this trip as a little getaway for my birthday. My request for a nice room was answered by a free upgrade to one of their appartments in their nearby villa. We got complimentary dessert over dinner, and were frequently asked if everything was in order. And it was; In terms of hygiene, privacy and location this hotel is very much recommendable. One note: Be advised that it's currently undergoing construction.

We found this Hotel to be very clean and had full facilities including excellent staff and customer service, I would highly reccomend it for location too, it was an easy walk into Trier, and out of the main town so as to be a good place to retreat from the town noise and traffic fumes, and Trier is sometimes a bit of a job to park in, so we mainly left the car and walked the short distance.
We couldn't have been happier with the Hotel, and were presented with Belgian chocolate & wine when we left also.

The manager Markus went out of his way in providing an escort for us since we were lost, the day before we had actually booked, Upon arriving at the hotel we received cappuccinos while waiting for him to telelphone around trying to find us accomodation. he eventually found a vacancy at a hotel about 15 minutes away and gave us another escort to this hotel. (Trier was booked solid that weekend) , He then offered to have breakfast on him the next morning since this hotel was more costly, and the morning of our real check in date we went over and had champagne since it was my birthday. Not only that he provided the fresh fish appetizer before dinner that evening. If there is a manager of the year award he would certainly get it , Thanks Marckus and staff we will aways remember that trip.

Stadtwald is located out of Trier, getting you out of the hussle of the city itself but still close enough to walk to town. The oak forests around the hotel are very beautiful and are worth walking through.
The hotel itself is peaceful because of its location, but popular as a watering hole and for its great food. It is quite a busy place.
Rooms are very comfortable and well laid out in two separate wings of the hotel complex. Food is marvellous and the service is great.
Staff are very pleasant and happy to help out with all sorts of information and advice.
