“Nice place on small back street”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

This was a last minute stop in town to find a place. Room was small but nice. Had a three story climb to get to the room, whew! Receptionist was extremely helpful and recommended a great place for dinner outside of town. Bath was also small but all clean and worth a stay. Welcomed with a glass of champagne and goodies. Breakfast of fruit with sahn (fruit with yogurt), brot mit butter, cheeses, meats, soft boiled egg in egg cup, and of course coffee. Owners live there and joined for breakfast.

Room Tip: Pick a low floor!

Slightly off the beaten path but quiet and within easy walking distance of old town, the Astoria was a pleasure to stay at for our two days in May. The owner and staff were welcoming and offered advice on how to best enjoy Trier. The room was small but cozy and clean. Breakfast selection was good, (but typically German), although it was obvious special requests could be accomodated. Highly recommended.

We were greeted upon arrival with a free drink and were able to pick a room from a couple of choices - which was nice. The rooms are bit on the small size as is the bathroom but this is typical of most older hotels in Europe. The room was quite clean and quiet even though we faced the street. Breafast was very good and we were even offered champagne. The hotel is within walking distance of all the main historical attractions in Trier and is about a 15 minute walk to the train station so public transit nor taxi are not needed which helps save money.

Easily walking distance from the train station and the rest of town, the Astoria served as a great 'home base' for exploring Trier. They were very welcoming and gave great advice for places to visit and eat. After staying one night, they remembered our breakfast preferences for their wonderful and well priced breakfast spread. The owners are very nice and eager to chat. The rooms are very homely and welcoming. Watching the birds fed during breakfast was also nice. The complimentary drinks were a great way to end a long day traveling. They had a cot waiting for us in our room on arrival as requested. Though we were 3 college students traveling, and easily the youngest guests by 20 years, we enjoyed a great stay!

Visited Trier in May, 2013, and found the Astoria on a quiet street within a few blocks of the center. An easy walk to everything. We were greeted with champagne as we signed in, and each morning with the better than average breakfast. Our host gave us good advice for the next leg of our trip. Very pleasant.

The Astoria is all about location - only a short walk from the Porta Nigra and the buses that link up with the Airport bus from Hahn. The welcome is warm and the rooms are plain and - in our case, once the central heating and hot water was quickly repaired - what you'd expect for the price. And that's what you get with the Astoria. Value with a capital V. You can walk to everywhere in Trier - and we did. So the good breakfast set us up well for the day, although as a greedy eater I prefer to help myself from a buffet rather than being served from a platter. Our room was at the front but still perfectly quiet - admittedly in the depth of winter. If you're on a budget, the Astoria is a great choice.

Lovely, family run hotel. Paula and Sadhir made us feel at home immediately by offering us refreshing glass of champagne upon our arrival. The hotel is nicely decorated and feels more like your visiting with friends. Breakfast was a treat with some items being served buffet style: yogurts, cereals, etc., and the hams and cheeses are served from a platter by your hosts. Perfect soft boiled eggs are served on request and be sure to use the fancy egg cracker. Champagne is also served with breakfast! The rooms very clean, nicely decorated and are a decent size. The location is great for walking around the old town and there are many restaurants and shops along the way. The hotel does not have an elevator but this should not be problem for most. We would love to visit Trier again and would happily stay the Hotel Astoria. Thank Paula and Sadhir
