Sit in the square and take in this wonderful church situated in the heart of Mainz. We listened to street performers and then had a walk through.

This cathedral is massive and has many commemorative sculptures on the walls. The windows are nothing special. The place feels big and old without having too much charm. We grabbed a booklet about it in English, but it didn’t provide a clear tour, just notes on many features and history. Not among my favourite cathedrals.

Quite a great find in such a beautiful town. The cathedral stands proud in the center with many a stain glass window and intricate detailed statues. Worth a visit for sure!

Together with Speyer and Worms cathedrals this is also an Imperial Cathedral of the Holy Roman Empire. Being so old the cathedral also features different architectural styles: Mainly Romanesque with later additions of Gothic and Baroque. The octogonal tower is currently under renovations.

It is very big with stunning architectural features and there are some very interesting gravestones inside. Also some very old murals.
This is a beutiful cathedral an must definitely be visited

Honestly, I liked the impressive building more from outside than its interior. Like every cathedral it is richly decorated, impressive and breath taking its own way and of course a must see in Mainz.
