Personal taste, I'm sure but I thought the stained glass was excellent.. Located right at the center of town so worthy a look and some photographs.

Very dark and plain inside. I thought it was going to be very different. It’s hard to imagine it as a place of worship. Very austere.

A beautiful cathedral. We were fortunate in that when we popped in for a look, a small orchestra was practicing for an upcoming concert.

The St. Martin cathedral is located in the historic center of the city of Mainz. The Romanesque pillar basilica is made of red sandstone and has six towers.
The current church was built in the 10th and 11th century.
Later additions and changes to the exterior of the Mainz cathedral have ensured that the appearance is a mixture of different styles.
Finally, the cathedral was restored in the end of the 19th century, in which various neo-Romanesque elements were added on the east side and the original celebration tower was replaced by a new one.
The cathedral houses various art treasures and is therefore worth a visit.
Admission is free (apart from the treasury museum).

this big cathedral is claimed to be one of the biggest and oldest ones in the upper Rhines area.when I enter the city , this cathedral octagonal towers with 4 smaller towers highlighted the skyline of the city form farsight. it's on the north of marketplace of Mainz city.although it's not original,it has been rebuilt, additionally filled up the main building.it's the main attraction of the city.
