OK bed. Tiny bath. Not the least bit charming or interesting. Decent breakfast. Inexpensive. Annoying metal room keys. Friendly reception. Good location next to train station.

Excellent choice for the night before the flight from Frankfurt . A short train trip from the airport. Warm rooms, excellent buffet breakfast, reasonable rates. Try the Donner Kebab next door for an inexpensive and delicious dinner.

We stayed for four nights in late November, enjoying Mainz's Christmas markets and concerts of Advent music. Hotel Konigshof is only yards from Mainz main railway station which is about 30 minutes on train S8 from Frankfurt Airport. There is a frequest inexpensive service. Our room was warm and comfortable (two armchairs and a table) with a high ceiling. The hotel decor is plain and slightly old-fashioned. The staff on Reception were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good - plenty of choice including bacon and scrambled egg. The area around the hotel is what you'd expect near a main railway station - plenty of cheap places to eat but the better restaurants are in the Mainz Aldstadt, about 15 minutes walk in the direction of the cathedral. However there is an Italian restaurant right next to the hotel where we had a good, attentively served meal one evening. We thought the hotel gave us very good value for money

We really liked the location as it was right next to the train station and we had to be up to take a train at 5 am. They were working on the electrical on our floor so we had to wait for the crew to move their stuff out of our way to get to the rooms. The wife complained that she wasn't tall enough to see herself in the mirror to put on her makeup, she is 5'1".

We stayed at the hotel just for one night en route to the Rhine Valley. We arrived at night and couldn't find anywhere to park. The guy on reception, who spoke perfect English, came out onto the strreet and found me a tiny little spot to squeeze my car into right in front of the hotel. He then gave us a rcommendation for dinner that was just what we wanted... Reak German food in an interesting cultural setting. The room was great and breakfast was great, but it was the effort put into looking after us that prompted me to post a review.
