“Stunning windows but look around the cloisters too”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The Chagall windows are stunning, blue and so beautiful. But also look around the cloisters and feel the reverence of this place. Worth a detour to see.

“Chagall stain windows”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

One of the best examples of Chagall's stained windows other than the ones in Zurich and Metz. St Stephen's church is easy to walk to from the old town.

“Chagall's windows”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Ancient church with stormy at times history and a lot of WWII damage. Chagall worked here shortly before his death and created several stain glass windows. They are amazing and beautiful and will make you stare for a few minutes.

“Marc Chagall worked here”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

The church has really very ancient history but current building is from 13th and 14th century. It is reportedly the oldest Gothic church in upper Reine district. It was damaged during the WWII but rebuilt in 60th and early 70th. Marc Chagall created here nine stain glass windows.

“Chagall Windows”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

St. Stephen is located somewhat above the city and offers an incredible view. The steep and narrow walk up Gau Gasse takes you past old and new buildings to St Stephen. The Chagall windows were created by Marc Chagall between 1978 and 1985. Take the walk down hill toward the Dom and the old part of the city or as it is know "Die Altstadt" through narrow streets.
