Owner description: Although often overshadowed by the tremendous Martinsdom, this cathedral is notable for its dazzling Chagall stained-glass windows.

The walk to St. Stephan's Church from the city center or boat docks is 100% well worth the effort. It's only a few blocks from the city center actually. St. Stephan's has 9 Chagall windows, and other windows that look similar - match colors. It's a pleasant place to share your thoughts and meditate, even with the tourists that come for the artistry. The Church also sports a brand new pipe organ, which is also worth the trip for a concert. Don't forget to visit the "walk" out back.

If you like Chagall and his wonderful art, that's the place to be. The windows show scenes of the bible in amazing colours.
The church is a peaceful but sometimes busy place. Many visitors come to enjoy the only church in Germany with Chagall's glasswork. You are asked to cherish the work and respect the silence for prayer. There is no entry fee but it is kind to offer a donation. The church's peaceful cloister is a most enjoyable quiet place on a hot summer day.

There was something very moving and spiritual about this church and the beautiful Chagall windows. The fact that Chagall was commissioned to create the windows is amazing in its own right, and that alone is reason to honor the church with a visit. I was really touched by the experience.

The blue Chagall windows - a one of a kind in a German church - are beautiful. Take some moments to calm yourself sit down in a pew and experience the gothic church bathed in the blue light from all windows. It is a short (uphill) walk from downtown.
