we found the east Asia history the most interesting. very descriptive in German and English. Seeing the old Bibles was amazing. the press demo was also interesting. we were hoping the kids could actually try on the costumes but that was not allowed. the presses and books were interesting but it was a lot and seemed repetitive to kids which made it hard for adults to enjoy.

Great museum covering the history of printing, not just Gutenberg. There is so much to see in, but, for a non-German speaking person, the flow was not easy to follow. I would have rated it five stars, but many of the signs are not translated so I was not able to undersand much. However, it was still well-worth the visit. Be sure to see the smallest books in the world, the Gutenberg Bibles, and the printing press demonstartion that occurs periodically throughout the day. You can see a lot for the small price you pay.

A beautiful museum that did a good job of telling about the Gutenberg Bible and how the GB was the first major book printed with movable type in the West and the first major book produced on a printing press anywhere in the world---and the ramifications of that process and how it changed how we communicate to this day.

Not the place to go if you are jet-lagged! The interior is mostly in "twilight" to protect the beautifully hand-written and decorated manuscripts but there are also exciting live-demonstrations of the printing process. Make sure you volunteer to help the printer as you'll be rewarded with a print in a tube to take home!
