Stayed @ The Hilton Mainz Hotel on the The Rhine River from 8-26-12 thru 8-30-12. Dined @ Incontro impromptu the 1st evening, returned back for 2 more dinners + 1 lunch. Nice wine list too. Awesome............staff was fun + caring. Tables under their canopy ere a perfect place to dine and watch Mainz go bye. Wish I was going to eat there today!

Beautiful location @ easy walk to The Hilton......Thanks!

1 suggestion, go to The Hyatt for drinks B4 or after dinner, Martin is a great mixologist!

A nice cozy little restaurant in the heart of the old city of Mainz. Outside seating, friendly staff and really good food. The bruschetra was very good and the veal excellent. Fairly priced and a great location to enjoy the ambiance of this lovely town.

This restaurant may be a little on the pricey side but it is well worth it. The quality of the dishes and presentation were terrific. On our visit our starters were the minestrone soup and a salad that were both excellent. Main courses were veal with a mouth-watering gorgonzola sauce and veal pizzaiola with capers and a delicate red sauce that was absolutely delicious. Accompanied by a dry Italian red and finished with a demitasse of espresso. Heavenly.

Was walking to Bell Pepper (Mainz addiction for this chow hound) for my 3rd meal in as many days, when, low and behold, appears this little trip to Venezia (or, Bologna, whichever). Go for the seasonal specialty page and ask skater to recommend wine pairings.

Had dinner there one night. I was intrigued by the idea of how Germans would present an Italian restaurant. Doesn't seem to be popular with tourists; I was the only non-German in the place. Food was excellent. Service was even better, even though the place was packed. Maitre d' even gave me a complimentary cup of gaspacho. (Yes, I know that's a Spanish dish) Staff were very friendly and welcoming and spoke good English. In the old city, not far from the Dom.
