Really welcoming hosts, lovely wood fire, marvellous food and a really great atmosphere - a wonderful place to stay would have really liked to have stayed longer The situation of Rockhaye is great. there are a number of walks nearby and it is possible to walk to the village albeit up a hill. We ate at the pub in the village and found it very fine. Agood atmosphere with food to match. Maggie and Fred went out of their way to be helpful even finding a church for me to attend an early morning service on the Sunday I think that a good amount of the food came from local sources. Fred even makes the bread for breakfast and gets a paper for you. The homemade biscuits made by Maggie are OUT OF THIS WORLD, .

Room Tip: fred and maggie only accept two people at a time and there is one excellent bedroom with all the fac...

We had a one night stay due to our accommodation at the Mitre Inn being booked out.We were welcomed by Fred who offered to drive us back into Witheridge for dinner which we gratefully accepted . The room was amazing such a beautiful setting in the Devon countryside , you feel you could escape from the world there and stay forever .After coming back from our dinner out Fred had the fire lit it was so warm and welcoming .Breakfast was amazing cooked by the gorgeous Maggie who shared her farmhouse kitchen with us gladly. A wonderful stay needed longer!!!

Having lunched with old friends in Dartmoor we had decided to stay in during the evening and bring in a snack and a bottle of wine, all agreed with Fred in advance. On arrival the fire had been lit, plates and wine glasses provided. Fred welcomed us with tea and delicious fruit cake, baked by Maggie - a great start.
We had a lovely relaxing evening by the fire, and a good night's sleep in the very comfortable bed.
Breakfast began with freshly-squeezed orange juice, followed by a full English and fresh bread, baked by Fred the previous day. Coffee was freshly-ground, just as it should be.
As Fred and Maggie said, they try to offer what they would like to find in a B&B, and they succeed 100%.
We would definitely return to Rockhaye and wholeheartedly recommend it to other travellers.

Fred and Maggie are the perfect hosts, the choice of breakfast was wonderful and the full English was delicious. Comfortable bed and a sitting room was a luxury to have at a bed and breakfast establishment. Stunning views of the gardens and the friendly sheep and a warm welcome from the chickens!! Good local pubs with delicious food and a great offer if required from Fred and Maggie for a taxi service, what else could you ask for. Would recommend for a relaxing, friendly stay.

This is not just any old standard B&B, Maggie & Fred treat you like family during your stay. Apart from the gorgeous unspoilt views from your huge bedroom & living room area, (gorgeous bed & bathroom) they accommodate your every need. For us, having breakfast at any time up till midday was heaven, (amazing fresh eggs & everything you could want) as we didn't have to rush around & could totally relax into our holiday, also, we took up Fred's amazing offer to try out all the various pubs at night in a 7 mile rad with Fred taking us & picking us up!!!! Where would you get service like that!!??? This is heaven on a plate! We were treated like VIPs and will definitely be visiting again!

What luck, we arrived after a hard day on the Two Moors Way, Nowhere booked but we happened upon the perfect place. Not just a bed but lounge and full size bathroom! wonderful. Fred and Maggie were prepared to take us at very short notice and made us very welcome. So welcome we stayed two nights and wanted to stay longer. Well fed and armed with Maggie's, obviously well known biscuits, we managed another 10 miles. This is a double room B&B that is unique, we could use the garden to relax, talk to the chickens or read, we did have good weather but the lounge is very cosy for snuggling up in poor weather. Plans to return for that extended break so long as Fred and Maggie are not booked up as a result of the excellent reviews!
