“Exceptional Service”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

We "stumbled" upon this restaurant quite by accident as we did not have reservations at any of the restaurants we "chose" through researching. It is located in the "heart" of the city on Schiller Platz. We were immediately seated despite being busy. Authentic German cuisine as well as eclectic selections. Evening was not inexpensive but it was worth the price we paid. We will go back but as an evening for adults.

“Great Little Restaurant”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This restaurant is a surprise on Schiller Platz in the heart of Kaiserslautern. It is even rated with a Michelin star. Dining is available indoors in the lovely dining room or outside, weather permitting. Service is very good and the staff is friendly and helpful. They speak German and English, and who knows what else. The menu has a good selection with seasonal specialities. We had an omelette with white asparagus with hollandaise sauce since it was Spargel season. The wine selection is good with wine by the glass or bottle. The prices range from European reasonable (EUR 15) to high, depending on what you order. Dress for lunch ranged from casual to business men in suits. Everything that we have had there was very good. Our big surprise was coming back after eight years away and running into our piano tuner! Try it sometime. you will want to come back.

“re: Went there for our Anniversary”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

I heard great things about this restaurant and someone recommended we go there for our Anniversary. I didn't think it was that great. 2 people 163 euro later plus tip. Won't be running back.

“Long night of culture and eating out”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We went to dinner as part of our night out exploring Kaiserslautern's Long Night of Culture. It was threatening rain so we ate inside (it would have been nice to be outside on the plaza area). We also did not have reservations, but were seated immediately. It wasn't busy while we were there (which was early evening). The restaurant was fancier than we had anticipated (I was in casual wear and felt underdressed). I felt a little uncomfortable because of this.

The menu (in German) offers some variety. A couple sitting close to us, helped us with some of the words we did not know. The service staff were prompt and very friend. We were given a little platter of bread and spreads to nosh on while we waited for our dinner. We ordered Dornfelder rote trocken with dinner. My husband had veal liver and I had some sort of fish (they said it was halibut, but it was more like haddock or cod). The food was good, but at the price we paid (the evening was 80 euros inclusive) for two plates, we expected a little better. My fish was a little overcooked. The potato puree and white asparagus were the hits on my plate. My husband felt the same about his potatoes and vegetables. The meal came really fast too (we are getting used to slow and leisurely dining here in Germany). I think because we did not order a starter/appetizer, it came faster. After our food was finished, the waiter brought us a little sample of the house German cheesecake. As typical, the cheesecake was good, but we find any German cheesecake on the very dry side. It would be good with coffee though!

It was a good meal, but we have had much better here in Kaiserslautern for half the cost! It is not a restaurant that we will hurry back to.
