“Stumbled on this by accident”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

One of the many pubs in Dusseldorf in the old town, just kinda stopped because of the beer. Best pork knuckle ever! Really good value, twice the size that were served in other restaurants.

“Historical Brewhouse and Restaurant”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

This brew house was founded in 1628...1628! 'Been there 3 times now and have never been disappointed. Traditional German Food with a touch of Rhineland kitchen and a lot of variety .. needs to be enjoyed with their "Alt-Bier". I recommend their Oxtail Soup as a starter even though the portions are big. Had the Pork Shank twice but ordered it with a dumpling. My wife loves their Sauerbraten. Service was always fast and courteous. Easy accessible from shopping and in the "Altstadt". There is a bust of Napoleon where he sat with his generals when he occupied Germany and stayed in Duesseldorf. The interior is rustic and very traditional for the area (old tiles). This brew house used to be part of the Duesseldorf harbor to the rhine river.

“May be our expectations were too high”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We have tried to visit the place 3 times before we actually managed to do so. It was so hard to get attention to ask if we can be seated that it was almost unbelievable. Considering that the restaurant is in the Alt Stadt, easy accessible for tourists, it's a shame that English is not spoken. The 4th time we actually managed to get a table. I cannot say that the hostess was particulary nice.
Moving on to the food. No menues in English. Despite we managed to order exactly what we wanted, we were a little disappointed as the meat was not as delicious and tender as one would expect.
The service was rushed and thus a bit rude. It is like they couldn't wait to get rid of us. I don't remember if what we paid was a lot but it definitely felt like a lot. Indeed except for the location, I cannot think of a reason for this place to be this popular.

“24/7 Safe Way to Eat German Food Fast”
Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

Easy to access from downtown, ready to serve fast and yet good basic German food all days at all time!
Waiters are very experienced, as I have seen them for over 10 years now. Cosy, casual and warm interior with a bust of Napoleon overlooking your experience. Fast service, but no rush, as you do want to enjoy local Alt.
Child friendly, lots of space, no reservations needed. Come by!
