“Micro brew and good food”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

For all real ale fans great place to sample Germans greatest export beer!
Brewed on site one of seven brewery in Dusseldorf. They do tours but plan and book ahead if you want to know what's going on (tours in German)
This place was busy every time we visited, expect to wait for table if you want to eat. The food looked plentiful and well cooked. We only sampled the Frikendella which was very tasty.

“Home made beer and a lot of food”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

This brauhaus was recommended by our hotel and they were right. The beer is good (they make it themselves), the audience is terrific and the food is quite good. It tends to get really busy during the evening and you can only wonder how they serve so many people at once (both outdoors and indoors). We didn't make reservations and had to share a table with five Germans (two couples). They were really friendly and it only added to the atmosphere of the brauhaus. Just for the experience you should give it a try. Prices are very reasonable (a few beers, water and two meals for under 27 EUR).

“Alt beer”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Very large, typical brauhaus in wat is called "the longest bar in the world". Dusseldorf has its own type of beer, alt beer. This brauhaus has as such only one kind of beer,.. yep... alt.
Since smoking is forbidden in bars and restaurants in Germany, it's generally quieter inside and the large crowd is standing in the pedestrianised street.

“Great place, a lot of fun”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

The best of the Altstadt breweries we tried over the course of a week. Grab a stand up table, inside or outside, they will slam beers down in front of you. Ask your waiter for a table, that's how it works here. On a busy Friday night around 7:30 PM, waited (and drank beer!) about 30 minutes for a sit down table. Waiter was very good, friendly, fun and spoke English. Menus are in German and English both. We ordered the Schlussel Brauhaus Platte (Brewery Platter) says it serves three, It is HUGE. The food is very good, better then other Altstadt breweries we tried by far. 19,00 Euros per person. Three men eating it and still had a lot of food left at the end. Waiter came and asked if they could seat two other people at our table, we declined as this was a business dinner. There would not have been any room on our table anyway with all the food! There is a big three foot Key hanging in front of this place, right in the heart of "Altstadt. This is a must visit if you want to have a real Dusseldorf experience. They take cash, Visa and Master Card.

“So Fun.”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We took a tram into the Old City and sort of wandered into this place. The atmosphere was loud and merry, an afterwork kicking back vibe. We sat down to some fun hearty German fare, schnitzel with a fried egg on top? Yes please! Entrees with mashed and roasted potatoes, no fear of double starch in this place. There were plates that went by with huge pork knuckles with knives sticking out of them. The waiter yelled at us a couple of times, moved us to another table, and stuck some other Americans at our table. We loved every minute of it. Only one kind of beer served and it is awesome. Wish I could go hear after work once a week.
