“Lovely local pub with own brew of "Alt" beer”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

Pop in here for a quick drink and a snack. The "Senfsuppe" or mustard soup sounds weird but is a local speciality and honestly is worth a try, it has a mild taste like that of "american mustard". It is yummy, share a bowl if that suits you...

“Good food, huge portions - rude, ignorant and incompetent waiter”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

Excellent Bierkutscherpfanne - pork ragout in an altbier sauce. Also the haxe was excellent; a milder cure than many others. The portions were absolutely monstrous. Either of our main courses would have been a decent meal to share between 2 or 3.

The waiter is obviously paid by the numbers he serves. His cunning plan is to get you sat down with a beer in front of you and to take your order so as to lock you in. He then spends every minute of your stay trying to drive you out of the place. He spilt my beer (and didn't replace it, nor take it off the bill) and almost dragged a plate of food off the table with his sleeve.

I've been here many times over the past 20 years or so and this was the worst experience I've ever had in a German restaurant; despite the food being so good, the overall enjoyment was nil.

“Nice Alt & Goulash :)”
Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

Nicest Alt beer in the Old Town! Very traditional beer hall and very lively. Beautifully decorated for Christmas when we visited. The goulash soup was very good too. We asked for an English menu and were kind of greeted with a grunt.....it might be worth scrubbing up on your German or have a pocket guide handy when ordering food here! Prost :))

“Enjoyed It”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Sat at Community Table with 2 couples from Holland. Very crowded and popular. This is very authentic German food, heavy, hearty and flavorful. Tough to get a table, you just stand around and dive in, not very organized from a seating standpoint. Lively crowd, locals and tourists. Right on "bar row" we enjoyed it thoroughly.
