“Too far from anything”

I stayed at this property for a week for a conference at the Messe next door. The amenties were minimal for price; clean functional room, but substandard towels, toiletries, etc. Very nice bar area and friendly helpful service at reception. There is only one restaurant and it's very pricey ( 29 Euros for lunch buffet!); no vending machines or other ways to get a coke, advil, etc. While it was nice to walk to the Messe, the hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere- there are no stores, restaurants, anything nearby. It's the last stop on the tram route and the last train back is at 9:00pm ( resulting in very expensive cab rides back from Altstadt). I found it pricey for Dusseldorf; when I go back to Dusseldorf I will much prefer to stay in a neighborhood or downtown and take nice, clean, frequent tram to the Messe.

I stayed at this hotel mid-September 2012. The room was fine - everything you would expect in a 3-4 star European hotel, however they didn't supply an iron which I thought was a bit odd considering they host many business conferences. My biggest beef is the internet situation - free wi-fi in the lobby (with only one login per day), and they charge for wi-fi elsewhere in the hotel. Utterly ridiculous. It's 2012. A hotel of this calibre should provide free wi-fi.

The restaurant was great, very good food. Good location on the Rhine. I wish I had brought my jogging gear to have a run.. or a bike.

Satisfactory. First, the good-close to the Esprit Convention Center, comfortable beds, and a good breakfast buffet. Now the bad- on the expensive side (for example 15 Pounds/person for that breakfast buffet), smaller, scratchy towels, and the big complaint -not close to anything else. Now I read that in the reviews, but it is really NOT close to ANYTHING else. There is one adequate (but expensive) restaurant onsite. Any other restaurant, entertainment, etc. will require a drive or public transportation. Another thing that we discovered was that the metro quit at around 10:00, so when we were in the Alstadt until about 10:20, we had to get a taxi.

I stayed at this hotel on September 6, 2012. I was impressed with all the "hotel of the year" awards that were displayed in their lobby! Until I got to my room.....no closet, just a few hangers on a peg.
Soap and shampoo in the bathroom were in dispensers. Towels were very small and thin. A refrigerator was in the room but had NOTHING in it. No comp bottles of water or even any water for sale!
I would pay no more than $90-$100 for this room. Unfortunately they charged me close to $300 a night. The next morning as I was leaving the room, I noticed a card that stated water is available at the reception desk. Oh please at midnight I was supposed to run down and ask reception for a bottle of water?

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

Good points: helpful and friendly staff, nice bedrooms
Just ok: very limited menu, though the food was fine. Conference facilities MOT ideal - noisy with windows open, very hot with windows closed
Should do better: soap and shampoo in dispensers isn't great. No courtesy bus into town ( though underground is conveniently located), no leisure facilities All documentation in room in German (fair enough but a few items in English, which is most peoples second language) would be helpful.

The only reason why I chose this hotel is because I was attending Drupa packaging exhibition at Messe and this is the closest hotel to the area. You can't go wrong with the location but that's about it. They charge for every single thing (cotton ball, bottle of water, wifi) and do not provide (or at least lend) iron in the room. However, they have an ironing room near the reception which for me is a bit weird and the guys at front desk are quiet nice.

After a long morning at Drupa this was the perfect. Very nice decor, great service, good lunch Buffett with great deserts. They also do good coffee. Nice spot for business lunch

It also has a nice patio that overlooks the soccer stadium which is great. It's hard to enjoy with all the smoking...the deck is.
