I had a 24-hour lay-over and decided to stay here due to its walking distance to the train station (~15 min) and other touristy locations. From the Dusseldorf airport you can take a train to the main train station in the city of Dusseldorf. There is an airport train stop in the airport (think it was in terminal C) and another one close to the airport that requires taking the free sky train to first. Be warned that the train ticket selling terminal is only in German, not intuitive, and will not accept American credit cards that don't have the special European chip or Euros over the value of 10. It is not easy to get change for bigger bills in the train station so try and do that in the airport first. I got a little lost trying to get from the main train station to the hotel. It would be helpful if the hotel would post walking directions from the train station on their website. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The room was adequately sized and quite clean. I appreciated the wood floors instead of carpet. Free wi-fi was also a nice touch. The hotel was perfectly located to explore the Koningsallee shopping area, Old Town (Alstadt), and Media Harbor (Mediahaven). It was a long walk (~30 min +) to the Media Harbor, but well worth it to see all the cool modern architecture.

We stayed for 4 nights in September 2011 and found this hotel to be a little hidden gem.

Tucked away on a side street between the station and Konigsallee (the main shopping street) it was in a safe and fantastic location.

The Hotel was simple, spotlessly clean and all of the staff were lovely. I must give particular praise to the gentleman who was on the reception on an evening during our stay and was married to a Welsh lady - he was helpful, entertaining and an absolute asset to the Batavia Hotel.

Lovely city, lovely hotel and if I return to Dusseldorf I will choose to stay here again and would highly recommend to anybody else.

I stayed in this hotel, because i wanted to be close to the railway station, since i had to catch an early flight the next day. Instead of staying at an airport hotel, it is much more fun to stay in the city, where you can do some nice walking, shopping etc.
The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the station and close to the old town as well. Rooms are big, and very clean. Only thing i missed in the room was a small locker to put away valuables. For the rest i would definately recommend this hotel.

I had to spend one night in Dusseldorf because of a flight connections and chose to stay downtown to enjoy a few hours of the city. Batavia is a short walk from the main train station. Check in and walk along the beautiful canal with all the nice stores and wide sidewalks towards the Old Town and the banks of the Rhine. After dinner, a nice walk back to the Hotel. The train from the Main Train Station, S11, to the airport costs 2.40 euros and takes 10 minutes. You can buy the tickets at any machine before you board the train. The hotel was clean and quite satisfactory. The bathroom was well equipped with a strong hot shower and very clean. My room has two twin beds so either put them together or ask for larger beds. Sleeping on a twin bed is very uncomfortable is you like to change sleeping positions. I chose the Batavia because the other Dusseldorf hotels were exorbitantly expensive because of trade shows and this hotel provided the most reasonable price and great location. The front desk staff was also superbly kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room towards the back based on prior TripAdvisor reviews. It was perfect.

My group stayed one night at the Hotel Batavia while in Dusseldorf. We chose the hotel for its price, location, and parking. For only 40 USD / person between the two rooms it was a great value and comparable to a hostel in price. The rooms were decently large and clean. No reason to complain there. The elevator is very small, only two people and bags but our rooms were on the second floor so the stairs were not a problem. The front desk was very helpful and provided us with internet access on the complimentary lobby computer. It is only a short walk from the hotel to most of the regions tourists would want to visit, the Alstadt mainly. Parking was a very affordable 10 euros per day and located across the street in an underground garage. The garage is somewhat tiny but did not have many cars in it and was very secure. Overall, it may not be a five star hotel but it provides a great value to those who would rather spend time and money out doing activities than on a super nice hotel room.

High value for money. Clean and confortable room, free internet, nice position, walking distance from train station, shoping area and old town. The best in this hotel is the friendly, smiling, polite, perfect staff. Congratulations to the reception people.
Small lobby, very small lift, no air-condition into the room.

The hotel Batavia is an acceptable hotel for business travelers or those who want to spend some days in Dusseldorf city center. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is located in the heart of the city center 3 minutes from the dusseldorf hautbanhof station. Around the hotel there many shopping centers and good restaurant. The rooms of the hotel are small but clean and internet in the room is free but the signal is very bad. I recommend this hotel because of the good price especially when there is a fair in dusseldorf as the hotel rates become very high.
