“Nice hotel in good location”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Stayed here only one night. Nice small, older hotel. The front desk was nice, except when I returned late and woke the night clerk to open the front door. I was on the 3rd floor overlooking the trolley. As others stated, it can be noisy. There are even a new and old set of windows to keep the noise out. You can still hear as the trolley goes by. When you see ear plugs provided, it's not a good sign for light sleepers.

Good place to rest your head for the money.

We were on the fourth floor in a non smoking room, but the room, sheets, towels, everything wreaked of smoke. The next day our clothes wreaked of smoke. Other than that, it was a decent little hotel with moderately comfortable beds, spartan decor in pretty tight quarters, but at a very fair price in a great location with great staff. The street noise didn't bother us at all, the double pane windows were quite sound proof. The neighborhood is beautiful, its an easy <10 min stroll to the old town, and there are some great restaurants in the area. If smoke doesn't bother you everything will be fine here for a quick stop.

Lovely well run family hotel with restaurants & shops on your doorstep and very well served by buses, tram and train. We asked for quiet room and got good size room overlooking garden that was blissfully quiet and peaceful. The buffet breakfast had an amazing selection cold & hot food to suite all tastes. The staff were courteous and spoke very good English. Fabio in particular was extremely helpful with advice on what to see and how to get there. The bustling center of Dusseldorf is approx 20 mins walk through lovely parkland with black swans, ducks etc on the lakes. You could also walk along the river Rhine or take the tram, train or bus to the city center. The nearby "Fishmarket" on Sunday is a must - It is bustling with a wide variety of food & wine and stall holders encourage you to try their free samples!!. A brilliant band played rock & roll all day & people danced on the cobbled pavement - a real festival not just a market. The Doria has to be the best place to stay in Dusseldorf - and its reasonably priced and just 15 mins from airport..

Its a good location, 15 min walk to Alt town, close to shope, cafes etc, and at the tram stops, however the noise from the trams (the hotel is on an intersection) even with the 'soundproofing' is still very very audible, you cannot sleep with a window open, far to noisy, and even closed you have to be able to put up with noise.

The rooms are small but efficient, tiny TV in the corner and fairly cramped bathroom, but adequate for the price.

Free WiFi which is good.

The breakfast, well, if you are staying the weekend you will love the breakfast, as they seem to put much more out then, however on weekdays gone are all the bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages, a lot more basic.

The staff are very friendly and pleasant, and they have a 24 hr desk which is useful.

Overall OK, and if I needed to stay in that area, I would again, but not rush to it, and I would request the quietest room if thats possible.

However I have stayed in Famosa hotel in Dusseldorf, location not quite as good, but at almost 1/2 the price, I would say a far better bet, a lot quieter, nicer sheets and practically brand new.

I agree with the other reviews and also as a single traveller I liked this hotel from that perspective. True the room was smallish (as singles generally are) but the bed and facilities match other hotels for this price and everything was spotlessly clean. Small bathroom with shower only but again perfectly adequate.
Excellently located for public transport (which is very extensive and very good) even more so because its just far enough from the main centre to avoid the madness yet just one metro or a few tram stops away from the main entertainment area. Trams do run right past the building and the free ear plugs in the room were a giveaway about the noise however it did not bother me and just adds to the character as far as I am concerned. Certainly I've stayed in rooms with much more noise from traffic outside than the odd tram makes. Use public transport to and from the airport/station too its cheap, easy and saves on the taxi fares (useful for spending at the brewpubs!).
As others have commented staff are very helpful and friendly, offering advice on bars/restaurants of which many good ones are on the doorstep including and excellent beer hall and a top class Italian restaurant (and I mean top class!) Rossini's.
Breakfast offers an excellent choice for a hotel of this class and cost and overall as a single traveller this place rates highly on my list of good value City break hotels.

The location of the hotel is quite convenient, close to the Ubahn (subway) and not very far from the busy historic town center (one subway stop, or 10 minutes walk). I stayed in a single room (with a small single bed), which wasn't very big but had all necessary furnitures (large closet, desk, minibar...). The bathroom was fine. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Most (if not all) rooms have a window overlooking the street, which gets quite busy in the morning (rather quiet at night). The noise was contained to a very acceptable level in the room (double window, quite efficient) but is quite loud in the breakfast room when the windows are open (ie when the weather is warm).
The staff is efficient and friendly. Free wifi service is available in the room (just ask for the password at the reception). There is a hotel bar but I didn't get the chance to check it.
All in all, an hotel OK for a business stay but maybe not suited for a long, touristic stay because the small size of the room.

I travelled with colleagues, flying into Dusseldorf before we went to Holland for two days and stumbled across this hotel as it was approx 60 euros for a single room, including breakfast.

It cost 15 euros for a taxi from the airport and we arrived to be greeted at the reception desk by a very friendly and helpful member of staff whose English was impeccable. Our rooms were all a fair size and mine had a good sized bathroom (in the eaves of the roof). The rooms were clean and contained two single beds which were comfortable.

The hotel staff directed us to a nearby street where we had a few drinks in a bar (Himmel & Eade??) 'Heaven & Earth' apparently. We then had a meal at a cafe across the road and about 100m further on at a corner.

Breakfast in the hotel was plentiful with great variety and the hotel kindly rang for a taxi to get us to the airport the next morning. Whilst not a hotel for a week's holiday it would be ideal for a short stopover in Dusseldorf as the local area seemed very safe.
