“Great Location to Enjoy Altstadt Dusseldorf”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

This hotel is nestled among the many apartment buildings in the Altstadt of Dusseldorf. It is not handicap accessible and thought the rooms themselves are well insulated and quiet, the area is very loud on weekend nights, as it is very near the Altstadt center, with all of its clubs and activities. That being said, the rooms are big and have a kitchenette, which is good for longer stays and picky eaters. The bed is a "typical" German king-sized bed, which means there are two twin beds side by side, which mean they are always slipping apart which means you are continually sucked into the void of uncomfortableness. This is a German idiosyncrasy more than a hotel flaw, but I just wanted to point it out.

If you are a party-er, and want to crawl back to the hotel after a night of heavy drinking, this is the place to stay. There is no breakfast offered and there is no restaurant attached to the hotel. Though a little inconvenient, there are many many restaurant choices nearby for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The staff was friendly and can easily accommodate non-German speaking guests. In my opinion, the hotel was overpriced for the value received, but that could have been due to the face that I was there during a large machinery exhibition (The K-Show at the Messe).

I checked in around 6 pm, and immediately started to wonder why the price was so "affordable" in regards to:
- the great location
- the beautiful, super clean, super large room.
- the friendly staff
- the nice touches such as free internet, bottle of water in the room, free coffee and little snacks near the reception...

I started to wonder why I've been paying so expensive in other hotels so far...
Well...I started to understand why, shortly after 10 pm, realizing my room was located just above the Papagayo disco... The music was perhaps not loud enough so I could dance in my room...but I could definitely identify which music tunes the DJ was playing!!
I know they played Rihanna around 11:30 pm.

This did not disturbed me much since I was very tired and had earplugs...but light sleepers should be aware.

Those who book this accomodation should be aware that it is right in the middle of the own town and the noise at week-ends can go on until the early hours. Don't let the noise put you off, get out there and join the party and stay up late and you'll sleep well enough. You will find yourself right in the centre of pubs, clubs, breweries and restaurants and only a short walk away from the river. Myself and two friends had one each of these apartments for a 3 night stay and we each found our respective apartments clean, modern and functional and ideal if you wanted to self cater.

If you arrive by taxi tell the driver to take you to Papagayo disco. Everyone knows where the Papagayo is; it is the loudest and brashest nightspot around and therein lies a problem. Whilst we were there it was only open on the Friday and Saturday nights but goes on until around 4:00am. It isn't just noise; the entire room vibrated to the bass line.

Other than that we had a room that opened on to the stairwell and there was a lot of noise from guests going up and down the stairs; a lot of it just inconsiderate drunks but also a very loud bang every time the outside door closed.

Reception is on the first floor and the rooms are on 3 floors - 1st, 2nd and 3rd. There isn't a lift so be prepared to carry everything up - my advice; travel light.

So why not 1 star or even no-stars? Because the room was immaculately clean. It was large and had everything we needed. The kitchenette was well appointed and the fridge a decent size. The staff were pleasant, welcoming and incredibly helpful. The location was perfect for what we wanted. We sort of got used to the noise although I'm not going to miss it.

The internet was good (although they had to reset the router twice) - fast enough to hold a good quality Skype video conversation and to stream a football game from the States.

One last niggle is that the wardrobe didn't have a hanger bar. We had to hang our clothes on hangers on a hat/coat stand.

Room Tip: Perhaps the noise improves the further away from the disco you get - but I doubt it. Also, avoid the...

Firstly, it is very hard to find and noone has heard of the hotel. Eventually when you do find it the corridors smell of cigarette smoke. The beds are two single beds joined together and very uncomfortable and can you feel the box springs. The wifi doesn't even work.

However, this hotel/apartment shares the building with a nightclub. The music will go on til 4am and it's impossible to get any sleep.

I would never stay here again; waste of money!!!

My boyfriend had booked this place for the 4 nights I was staying in Dusseldorf and was impressed by the great photos on the website. First impressions weren't good when we arrived, however; the front entrance glass was shattered (no doubt kicked by a late night reveller) and it soon became apparent that there was a night club in the same building, so absolutely not a cat in hell's chance of a wink of sleep until 4am when the club closed. I endured a second night and more of the same. With just 5 hours' sleep in 2 nights we were forced to go and pay for a room elsewhere and returned for the Sunday night once I had made sure the club was closed for the night.
The room itself was spacious, clean and modern with a handy kitchen and good shower. However, the beds weren't great, with lumpy pillows and thin duvets that were not warm enough for the winter months.
All in all? The choice of apartment ruined my trip. The fact that there is a nightclub in the same building should be mentioned and if you are looking to stay somewhere in Altstadt and get to sleep before 4am then this place is not for you (unless it's Sun/Mon night or you are deaf). I'll be sure to check trip advisor before booking anything in the future!!

Room Tip: My tip: don't choose any of the rooms here!

The location of this hotel is very good, just around the corner from the Alstadt. And so I expected and wouldn't mind some street/bar noise, which could be counteracted with ear plugs. What I did not expect (and which is not outlined anywhere) is that this hotel SHARES a building with a DISCO! This is not like the noise is across the street, the disco is in the same building and so it was full-on incredibly loud disco noise and bass beats until 4 am. If you're going to be out until then anyway, then this would be a fine place to stay because it was fairly quiet otherwise (except that you can hear EVERYthing in the hall, every whisper and step). I don't think there is any room that is safe from this noise, as we were in a room closest to reception and away from the street and disco entrance and it was still so loud and the walls were almost vibrating from the bass.
On the plus side, the room is HUGE (but the bathroom is tiny), well lit, and very clean.
On the minus side, in addition to the horrendous disco noise (I really cannot overemphasize how loud it is), the beds are very basic and not super comfortable (the twin beds slide apart at the slightest movement) and the floor is already warped and incredibly creaky.
The entrance is strange and the hallways are very industrial feeling (and not in a hip way, just in a sad, industrial way).
It's too bad about the disco, if it weren't from that, this hotel would be an ok place to stay and a good value.

Room Tip: Only stay here if you will be out until 4 am anyway, as all rooms must be subject to disco noise.
