NH Dusseldorf Konigsallee

We usually utilise the NH North when in Dusseldorf, due to its proximity to our office. But as that member of the chain was booked up we were put into the City location.
This NH has a large modern reception area from which you can easily walk to the bar and restaurant, or sit comfortably in the lounge section with its views of the central three glass elevators.
Can’t complain about any of the service levels I experienced and as others have mentioned the breakfast service is one of the positives. A very nice bright space and a really impressive buffet spread in the mornings.
Was given a double room which was perfectly adequate and had all the standard business fitments. The bathroom was small but with all the bits you normally want. Although the shower located in the middle of the bath was a bit strange, and difficult to get it to aim at anywhere else other than the shower curtain opposite, meaning that I couldn’t work out how to have a shower without achieving a pool of water on the floor. And as several others have mentioned the air conditioning really wasn’t up to the job and if you like a cold room, then this could only be achieved by opening the windows.
And if you have to wait in the lounge area for colleagues, you can easily spot that the lift algorithms are programmed to have at least one, if not two of the lifts on the ground floor at all times. This is obviously fine when you want to go up. But if you are given a room on the top floor then allow for extra time to make the lobby as the lift will stop at every floor on the way down during the busy periods.
Another positive of the NH City is its more central location. There is a U Bahn station a minute walk away and the River Rhein section of the Altstadt can be reached with a brisk 20 minute stroll.
So all in all, a solid business hotel that I wouldn’t have any qualms about utilising again when next in Town.

Very clean and nice hotel.
Really not much to say here, the rooms are OK, not big not small, just okay.
Very clean, nice bathroom.

Breakfast area is very modern and fresh, friendly waiters who seem to be very to work here, which is nice offcource ! The breakfast itself was GOOD ! Lot's off choice, different kinds of cheese for example is always welcom. Bacon and eggs and all that....it's all there.

The bar in the hotel is a no go. No attractive music or atmosphere. Not a big problem since you're only a few minutes from any other bar or disco in the neighborhood.

The biggest issue was the fire-alarm, we were here 2 nights and both nights it woke us up early in the morning.
When we called the reception they didn't even know it was actually going off, quite disturbing, what if there would be an actual fire ?

I was in this Hotel in December 2012 The hotel is nice, it is near the city center. My room, a single one, was small but not tiny and there was everything, the best part is a comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast is a good selection of cold cuts, bread's donuts and boiled eggs only. The Hotel gives you a Tea maker on request which makes all the difference during the cold days of December . The tram connection is at walking distance and thus at any time of the day you can get connected to any part of the city. The restaurants in the vicinity have a good selection of food . Thus dinner options are many. A short walk takes you to the famous market so good for an evening walk after a days work .

Room Tip: All rooms are ok avoid the ones facing the Main road.

The hotel is nice and modern and it is near the city center.
My room, a single one, was small but not tiny and there was everything I needed, except for the air system and confortable bed and pillows. Plus, as usual in Germany, the blanket was too short!
The breakfast is great, good food and large choice, and the service is outstanding, both at the restaurant (only breakfast) and at the reception.
There is no option of having dinner in the room, unless you go out and grab some food to go from the near restaurants.
Bottled water is hugely expensive everywhere, just drink the the from the tap!

NH are a popular Hotel chain in Germany. They are so popular that they have three hotels in Dusseldorf, two of which are called NH Dusseldorf City. One is in the city Centre, the other is way across town.
If you book the wrong one, there is no way to swap your booking (apparently).
The City (Centre) hotel is comfortable enough. Rooms are on the small side, but for a German city centre business hotel, you could do a lot worse!

First of all we were changing the rooms 3 times upon arrival (there was something wrong all the time). Second of all, on Sunday morning we were woken up by a (turned out eventually false) fire alarm and we've been evacuated. They didn't explain anything that happened, didn't apologize, didn't even offer free breakfast (or any kind of recompense) to soothe our nerves. Not a perfect Sunday morning (especially for heavily pregnant!). Last but not least: bad value for money. The air condition did not work, the room was very small room, mattress and pillows were of poor quality. It is definitely not what you call a 4 star hotel.

We had seven nights here and it was fine, room was small but not tiny, bathroom was definitely small, but we managed. Fortunately, it was cool when we were there, but the air conditioning didn't work properly and the only way to get cool would be to open the windows! Staff are really well trained and Nikolas at reception, in particular, was a source of information on everything, every hotel should have a Nikolas! This hotel is in a great situation for Konigs Allee, the old Town, Frederiche Strasse and the station. Rosie's bar and grill is right across the road and there is a Maredo Restaurant across the little square.

Room Tip: Ask to overlook the square
