“Positive surprise in Düsseldorf”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

Very positive surprise. I stayed here for one night, travelling on business, and was very good, or at least according to my expectatioins. The room has a good size, clean and comfortable. The bed is good (not excellent), and the breakfast is quite good. Most of the furniture in the room has a cheap-IKEA style, but this is just as detail.

This is my third stay in a Radisson Blue in the last year, and compared to the one in Helsinki (where there are no dark curtains in a city when in summer is never night, and therefore is quite complicated to sleep well...) or the one in Salzburg (without A/C, bad food and very noisy), the one in Duesseldorf is superb........

To point it clear, is a "solid" 4-Star hotel. Never a 5-star one, but recommended if someone must stay in the area.

The Radisson Blu is located in the heart of Dusseldorf, although not in the middle of the commercial retail district, but in the business area among the high rises of large corporations, and the technical high school, but still in a green zone just a few tram stops north of the Alt Stadt and Koenigsallee shopping area. It is 2 short blocks from the Rhein, and rooms on the west side of the building above the 2nd or 3rd floor afford a nice view of the river. The area around the hotel has a nice blend of commercial buildings and large old green trees.

There is free parking on the street, but get there early to find a spot, and there is paid parking around the building, and next door in a large underground parking structure. I do not use hotel swimming pools or spa facilities, so I cannot say anything about them other than what I have seen in other's pictures. The room though was quite different than the other photos that are posted on this site. My overall impression of the hotel is new, new new! My room appeared as though it was in a new building, which I can say from looking at the structure it is not, but Radisson has appearently done some massive remodeling and refurnishing of this hotel. My room was modern, Danish Modern if you like, with large screened flat pannel TV, built in refrigerator for drinks, a great working desk, with free WiFi (not normal in Germany with large hotels), cooker for hot water for coffee and tea, ironing board and steam iron, comfortable reading chair, great beds with quartz halogen lighting. The bathroom was obviously very new, lovely tan marble tiles on the walls, indirect halogen lighting, and a huge shower whose floor was the same level as the rest of the bathroom, with a large single pane glass door, and one of those tropical rain showerheads. Too bad I didn't take any photos. The hallways, and public areas like the bar and restaruant also had new furniture, not the same as in the other photos posted on this site.
The garden area outside of the hotel was being newly laid out, some old trees had been removed, and the gardners were working hard to prepare for spring planting bushes and small trees.
The breadfast buffet was very good, and would provide any American, English, or German with all of their favorite breakfast foods. All of the employees that we encountered eating or checking in/out in our 1 night stay were very polite, helpful, and well trained and informed. I would definitely stay here again if I had to need to overnight in Dusseldorf.

Room Tip: For a river view, ask for a room on the west side of the buildng 4th floor or above. The traffic on...

Located just outside the city centre but only 4 stops on the tram into the heart of town, this hotel deserves the good reviews it gets. Nice green area, free parking in the street, close to the river..all big pluses. Yes a rather 70s old fashioned exterior but compensated by a bright modern and very clean interior. Efficient rather than warm welcome from staff. The standard rooms are very well equipped, with desk, flat screen TV, nice bathroom with shower only...and good quality toiletries. Free internet and bottle of water too. Breakfast served in a nice dining room is also excellent - with staff very attentive. The hotel has a fitness centre with a decent swimming pool, a sauna, some running/exercise machines and a jacuzzi which was unfortunately out of order during my stay. Nevertheless I thought this Radisson is a really good hotel and would stay there again without hesitation.

Had to stay one night in Dusseldorf- corporate travel booked me in this place. Tries overly hard to position itself as a "trendy" boutique hotel with a play on scandinavian design. Public spaces were pleasant and modernist; room design bordered on having affectations. That all said, very clean, pleasant place. Guy at check-out was a bit grumpy. Corporate rate was Euro 115 per night including VAT and breakfast- can't beat that for the quality.

Located half way between the Messe and the Altshalt this location is perfect, plus it's off the road and positioned on a side street. Nice rooms, clean with Germanic thoroughness, great for business trips. I have also stayed at the sister hotel in the port area in Medienhafen and would rate this hotel better for business and location but not as "couple" friendly as the "Media Harbour"

We only stayed here one night. The staff was nice, room was spacious, even considering we had a crib in the room we could still walk around. It is nicely located next to the river, but in the winter it's cold so it would have been better to stay near to other locations. Overall a good experience.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference in February 2011 and found the room very spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent, both in quality and variety. The staff was friendly. The hotel is situated close to the airport. It's a short taxi ride. It is also just across from the river, and a good 10 or 15 minute walk to the town centre, which is fine if the weather is nice. Would recommend this hotel. However, some colleagues of mine stayed on a different floor and their rooms were much smaller and the decoration much less appealing and up to date.
