A beautiful business hotel in the heart of Dusseldorf.
Very clean, good atmosphere, nice room furniture.
Good room service, good cocktails and an excellent japanese restaurant inside.

Perfect place for business people, meeting room well organized.

Nice clean hotel. Bright and airy. Clientelle mainly Japanese. The spa was peaceful. Swimming pool on top floor with lovely views across Dusseldorf.

We stayed at the Nikko hotel during a trade show. Originally three rooms were booked, but we ended up only needing 2. They had an 8 week cancellation policy so there was no refund for this, which was fine, as they stated this when we made the reservation. However, there were no rooms with double beds available, which we had requested when we booked months earlier. The staff did not seem to care. This first day set the tone for the whole trip.

Firstly, the prices during trade shows are TRIPLE that of it's normal price (we paid 169 euros the first night and then 479 the following nights). For the normal price, the hotel would have been ok. For the trade show price it is really not worth it.

The rooms, as well as the hotel itself, is in dire need of renovation. Carpets are stained, furniture is severely outdated and the sizes of the rooms are fairy small. There is no longer a concierge staff and bell staff are almost non-existent. Amenities are, needless to say, sparse. Our shower was clogged, the toilet was filthy and the temperature of the shower was either freezing cold or scalding hot. Staff at the front desk were not sympathetic at all. Requests to have the shower unclogged were repeatedly ignored.

That said, the location is quite convenient for walking into the shopping area and there is an underground station around the corner which connects you directly to the convention center in Dusseldorf. The breakfast is also adequate there, although a rip-off at 23 euros.
The only redeeming factor is that this hotel is one block away from the famous ramen shop NANIWA. My word of advice? Skip this hotel and stay at a motel one. Or if you are in town for the convention, opt to stay in Cologne. Sorry to say but 5 stars must mean something different to Nikko hotels.

We booked the hotel from Holland. It had a spa with swimming pool and it had 5 stars. Well, definitely this is NOT a 5 star hotel. We had to pay €50 for using the mall swimming pool! The rooms are clean but very small and noisy.
When we had the check out they bill was very high. It was a mistake but first they got irritated when we asked about it...

We went there for a romantic weekend and our choice was a huge mistake. This hotel advertises its spa, but THIS IS BULL%$%#!!! I enclose pictures we took in the pool area. We were literally shocked when we saw electric cables in the water. And the best was, the staff knew about it and did nothing.
All the lamps in the pool were dismantled (completely or partially). Of course the guests were allowed to swim between the cables. HORROR!
When we demaned the offcial report about this problem, we were told not to use a pool if we don't feel comfortable with the cables hanging in the water...
The pool area itself was not the most clean too. The cushions around the pool were full of stains, the windows were dirty and window sills full of dust.
So called spa zone is really ridiculous. The lounge is an open space, without any window, exactly in the middle of the whole thing (everybody can pass you buy when you try to relax, you can hear all the noises etc.)

What more? The rooms. We slept in two stars which were more clean than this 5 star. Fat stains on the door, toilet so dirty that I had to clean it before I used it!
Tiles around a wash-basin dirty with tooth paste.
Dust and old chip behind the bed, glue stains on the furniture...

The hotel itself is quite worn-out.

Breakfast. Tasty, but the staff attitude...Well, we met 5 members of the staff, and only ONE said "hello". They were passing us by (our table) like there was nobody sitting. I had to put my dirty plate on another table, because nobody was interested in collecting it.

AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!

TO ALL TOURISTS:
OFFICIAL HOTEL STARS ASSOCIATION IN GERMANY INFORMED US THAT THIS HOTEL IS NOT ON THEIR LIST, SO THEY ARE NOT OFFICIALY ACCLAIMED AS 5 star hotel.
In a few words - you stay (and pay) in 5 star, which in fact is not a five star.

My flights to Germany were canceled due the volcano and they refused to refund. I will not go near a Nikko Hotel in the future. They just stole a substantial sum of money from me.

I had booked a room at the Nikon for a weeks stay while on a recent business trip to Düsseldorf. The property is old and tired and needs some serious attention. The room was very mediocre, the carpets stained and the bathroom had continues odor of sewer. The breakfast was adequate at best as I’ve had better ones at a roadside guesthouse in Germany. Still I thought I would give it a go and stay for the duration. However, when I went to use the gym and was charged €15 I decided to checkout. The “gym” consists of 2 treadmills and a “gym set” that one might have bought back in 1980 on TV during a late night drunken stupor...and the pool, well it had the same color as one might expect from the pool at the local Y in Chernobyl!!! You can find much better accommodation in Düsseldorf for half the price. Give the Nikko a pass and keep walking...
