The Monopol is a convenient, cheap, clean and friendly hotel close to all amenities. The rooms are small but very clean and the included breakfast is an excellent start to the day. The staff without exception were very helpfull and pleasant. This hotel is not the Hilton so dont expect it, what you can expect is excellent value for your money and our party of 7 without exception, would use this hotel again.

This hotel was very odd, when I arrived from the front it looked like a cheap greasy-spoon cafe crossed with a charity shop. The large front windows overlook what must have been the 'restaurant/dining area. It was furnished with cheap plastic chairs and plastic looking table cloths.
The reception area was cluttered with biscuits, sweets and teas to purchase.
The staff seemed nice however when I arrived there was a guy checking out but the woman said he was booked in for another night and would have to charge his card as he had asked to extend his stay another night. He explained that he was with a friend (2 rooms) and his friend had extended because he had lost his passport but he wasn't staying. It appears that the hotel extended the reservation for both rooms and they would not cancel this gentlemans booking and made him pay for what appeared to be the hotels mistake.

The rooms were fairly small and nothing special about them. They were clean and comfortable though.

Just looking back at the photos of the hotel on here and where I booked it and you really would think this was a different hotel than the one I stayed in last night.

The hotel is conveniently located, about 5min walk from the main train station and about 5min walk into the central part of Dusseldorf.

Overall it wasn't too bad considering how much I paid, for around £40-50 sterling per night it's acceptable but any more then I'd consider staying elsewhere.

Stayed at this hotel to attend to a conference and satisfied very much with my stay here.Great location, many cafes and restaurants in and around the hotel,my room was quite large for two people with all amenities and facilities available for a room.Very clean hotel, reception staff was very kind and informative. They assisted us in every way they could.Price level for such a good hotel and service was very reasonable.Reommended.

This hotel is in a good location, easy walking distance to the various shopping districts and restaurants and the station. Our room was a good size and included a desk and chair which was a bonus as my husband was working in Dusseldorf. Everything was very clean including the bathroom. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice. My only complaint with this hotel is that there is no tea/coffee making in the room, you have to boil a kettle in the foyer and make your tea in a cardboard takeaway cup. We were paying almost $400/night because we were there at the time of the K-fair, so I think at that price we should have been able to make a cup of tea in a china cup in our room.

Great little hotel, close to the railway station. We caught the S11 from the airport. Very friendly greeting. Room was a bit dated but the bed was so nice and the bathroom lovely. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. The only problem we had was Fri/Sat night Drunken German men shouting banging doors and getting on to the fire escape until 4 am. Sunday night was a joy no noise perfect. I know its not the hotels fault its just inconsiderate people. Would stay there again. :)

We travelled as a group of 12 and arrived mid afternoon. We were given cold drinks on arrival as it was a hot day this was free of charge. Reception checked us in quickly and we went to our rooms. The room was slightly small but clean and all that you need was available.Mini-bar,safe(deposit required),hair dryer, television, telephone, you can borrow an iron at reception.
We had booked a table at the brewery which is just beside the hotel I would recommend a visit. The centre of the town is close by good for shopping and night-life.
Breakfast on the Sunday was great buffet form and so much choice served until 11. Late check out until 12 which gives you time to relax.
We all enjoyed our stay here and would recommend here.

Room Tip: You can ask for a smoking room when booking.
